Re: Go-to solution for fanspeed?

You can do it with lmsensors, this is an old page: https://tuxtweaks.com/2008/08/how-to-control-fan-speeds-in-ubuntu/ not tried it myself. Thanks, I will try to find an up to date post I have tried to figure out how to influence fanspeed control before as well, because one older computer (2009) was...

Go-to solution for fanspeed?

Hi, in BIOS, I can't set fan speed stuff. Only "minimum fan speed" which is 500 RPM for CPU and chassi fans. What is the go-to solution or software to change fanspeed? My computer CPU is at 51c just idling. Didn't see graphic card temperature yet, but on Windows, using Afterburner, my CPU and GPU us...

Re: All .zip files downloaded from browser have a lockicon

It sounds like you got a zip file which has root ownership or weird permissions on the files in it; try a different zip file! Here's a normal zip file to try: https://file-examples.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/zip_5MB.zip Also try this: download your ORIGINAL file, the one with problems, without ...

Re: All .zip files downloaded from browser have a lockicon

You should give - by copy/paste, hopefully - the actual, complete commands you issued and the exact error messages which resulted. I managed to bypass it with chown. chown chown: missing operand So I tried chown -R the folder chown -R the folder chown: invalid user: 'the' Thanks, go0od point, but s...

Re: All .zip files downloaded from browser have a lockicon

Just launching from the Menu, no special way A sudo abuse ? find $HOME ! -user $USER -type f sudo chown -Rc $USER:$USER $HOME Is there any risk with those? Should I just run ...

Re: Can't change drivers

Driver Manager can’t remove a installed Nvidia driver entirely because of some buggy operation. The command apt autoremove also needs to be used in the Terminal. Thanks! I did do this, and approved the removal, and restarted computer, but stil I can't change from the "manually installed drivers opt...

All .zip files downloaded from browser have a lockicon

Trying to extract a locked file, it just says "Error extracting files" I managed to bypass it with chown. I then unzip it with unzip file.zip. Instead, I can't open the files inside, "permission error" or something like that So I tried chown -R the folder and then when trying to open the folder, it'...

Hi, Firefox (and any other web browser) on Windows: CTRL + 1, 2, 3, 4 to change between tabs. on Linux Mint, it works on CHROME, but for some reason - not in Firefox. I have googled and followed many links to outdated plugins and keybindings settings, nothing is working. Anyone using Firefox on Linu...

Can't change drivers

hi, I tried googling about this too (seems like it should have many solutions) - found no solution! Here is a screenshot, I can't change anything. It was set to Nvida yesterday, and I changed to nouveau. For some reason it's set to this "continue using a manually installed browser" now, and I can't ...
