Re: How to fax with hplip

Yes, I think that is going to be the best solution. I used it a couple of times from windows years ago. I just don't like the cover page all plastered with their faxzero watermark. According to the HP development web site the HP Envy 5660 does not support FAX capability. https://developers.hp.com/h...

Re: How to fax with hplip

After messing with several "All in One" printers, I have given up on making them work as a Fax Machine. the biggest reason, is I do NOT have a dedicated 2 wire telephone service, and have not for 12 years. I just use this now, free of charge https://faxzero.com/ Yes, I think that is going to be the...

Re: How to fax with hplip

As I described above: In Windows I had a FAX program that I could scan into the program, from the printer/scanner, then send the FAX out the phone line. Is there such a program in LM? I really don't FAX enough to justify paying for a FAX service like EFAX. Yes they have a free version, max 3 pages, ...

Re: Group Windows ? or Windows Group ?

Is there a return to default setting for the whole OS? Right click the panel > Troubleshoot > Restore all Settings to Default. Thanks - All seems well but I'll check things further in the AM before posting a "solved" in the thread title. Update: Everything seems fine with the panel reset. Marking m...

Re: Group Windows ? or Windows Group ?

I'm going to guess Cinnamon. Right click the Panel > Applets > Highlight Grouped-Window-List > Click Add. https://i.imgur.com/uEpjLw5.png Optionally right click the panel, check panel edit mode and then drag the applet to the desired position. Uncheck panel-edit mode when done. When I do that any p...

Re: Inserting a screenshot

Do you mind providing the image url? What file type is it? I got it to work, maybe not as intended but it did work. I copied the screenshot and selected to add it as an attachment. Showed up fine. My screenshot is in this thread of mine. You have to scroll down a bit. https://forums.linuxmint.com/v...

Re: How to fax with hplip

Here is a screenshot. I previously installed HPLIP and toolkit. Looking at the screenshot and you will notice that "FAX" is not listed. That is my problem.

I keep getting this in red letters. It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the URL you entered is correct.

Inserting a screenshot - Solved, kind of

How do I insert a screenshot from a file, or any other way? I see the "insert image" button but can't figure out what I insert here - {img}{/img]. I changed the brackets a little so it wouldn't ask me to put something between them for this post.

Re: How to fax with hplip

I've set up my HP Envy 5660 all in one printer with hplip and the printer and scanner are working fine. The HP tutorial says to select "send fax" to open the interface. I see no option like that in the hplip toolbox. So how do I send FAXs with hplip. New to Linux Mint I dont fax but found this: Ins...

Yes. It was already checked but I also cycled it off and then back on, with FF boots in between, multiple times. Sorry, I forgot to include that in my post.

Re: Install on USB including GRUB - Solved

Interesting, I have a UEFI computer. Indeed, Captain, that's why I asked the question. I was expecting the answer to be BIOS mode. As mentioned earlier, you can leave it this way so long as you're willing to live with choosing the boot option with the firmware. I wouldn't, but fixing it will take w...

Re: Install on USB including GRUB - Solved

Not sure what the problem installing to the internal SSD with the unflag/reflag method. I just disconnected the all the internal drives except the one I installed to and of course that worked. Infinitely simpler.

Can't watch streaming

When I try to view streaming programs in FireFox I get a yellow bar across the top saying "When on Netflix I see a yellow bar at the top of the page that says 'Firefox is installing components needed to play the audio or video on this page. Please try again later." Nothing looks like it is downloadi...

Re: Install on USB including GRUB

OK

Got independent Mint USB working using reflag/Flag. I then disconnected all my internal drives except the one I want to put Mint on and reinstalled. Success on all accounts. I can press F8 on bootup, select the Mint internal drive and it all works great.

Thanks everyone
