Re: Linux Mint 18 “Sarah” KDE released!

I installed mint 18 kde beta in virtualbox and on a usb disk. I removed some programs and added some other programs. Mint 18 kde beta worked fine in both virtualbox and usb disk. So I was eager to install mint 18 kde. I downloaded the iso and tried it live in virtualbox. It performed well. I did a f...

Re: Linux Mint 18 “Sarah” KDE – BETA Release

I tried this new release in virtualbox. I feel direct at home with this fabulous release. I feels very solid and fortunately it is not overloaded with programs. The only trouble I ran into was with cairo-dock. Sometimes cairo-dock freezes after using an other program. This happened also in 17.3 KDE....

Re: How best to copy 17.1's home folder into a new 17.3?

I do not think that there will be huge differences in the dot files in 17. 1 or 17.3. So replacing all dotfiles is an option for me. Copying files a root seems to be a quick solution. But the ownership of the files will not change during copying. So after copying the files will be in the right place...

Re: How best to copy 17.1's home folder into a new 17.3?

If you want to start a graphical application from the terminal as root you can use kdesudo (gksudo is for gnome). So 'kdesudo dolphin' will start dolphin as root. Copying you home directory from 17.1 to 17.3 should be easy. I do have a backup of my home directory on another drive and I am able to co...

Re: Linux Mint 18 KDE to use what version of KDE?

I am a user of Mint 17.3 kde. But I wanted to try kde 5. Last week I looked at manjaro kde (in virtualbox and live). It has kde 5. It looked very solid and beatiful with an overload of programs. I decided to install manjaro on my hard disk. Unfortunately it started to freeze randomly after several m...

Re: in KDE set boot-settings don't start on login

I had the same problem. Cairo and Deluge did not start anymore. I disabled krunner in the autostart list and rebooted. Now Cairo and deluge started automatically. So krunner seems to be the problematic program. I tried to run krunner in the terminal. It said that krunner could misbehave because the ...

Hello, I installed Deluge to replace Ktorrent. In Settings - file associations I choose -applications -x-bittorrent There I found the programs for *.torrent files. They are: Ktorrent Kget Deluge at first I put Deluge on top of the list. But torrents are still opened by ktorrent. Then I removed Ktorr...

Re: Totally prefer KDE to Cinnamon

I started as a newbie with Opensuse. After a while (a year) it became very slow so I tried Ubuntu. This distro worked good for me. I tried several other distros but stayed with ubuntu. About a year and a half ago I tried cinnamon. It was not stable but I liked it. After while Cinnamon grew up and be...

Re: <solved> Failed to configure printer .. contains invalid

I solved it myself by trying an other way of adding a printer

I added my printer on the 'Cups Web Utility' http:/localhost:631

see the tutorial: http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/194

Adding took no more a minute. I am happy again

Re: no startes on desktop and rightclicking doesnot work any

I think cinnamon repaired itself. In the cinnamon-settings I put a mark with the 'computer-icon' and the 'personal map-icon'. Then I closed the settings and noticed that the icons appeared on the desktop. Right-clicking the desktop worked again and I was able to copy startes from the menu to the des...

no startes on desktop and rightclicking doesnot work anymore

I copied a starter from the menu to the desktop. Then I opened the starter on the desktop to view the commands. At this point the starter freezes and disappeared. Now all starters are disappeared from the desktop. I can still find them in the directory /home/'peer'/desktop. So, they are still there....

Re: mouse doubleclick: no animated circle

Meanwhile I tried Ubuntu again and I noticed that the same problem occurs there also. (so I am still using Mint)
I worked with open suse 11.1 for about a year and there were no mouse animation problems.
On my netbook withe ubuntu 9.04 netbook remix the animation works fine.
