Re: gnome-logs unable to read system logs

marts123, I tried the solution you suggested. I added my user account to the systemd-journal group and restarted. That warning in gnome-logs was still present, even if I start it with sudo. Even if it would work, I doubt I would implement it permanently. I do not know what consequences it would hav...

Re: gnome-logs unable to read system logs

I had the same problem. Found the answer in this post: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=324452&p=1848299#p1848299 Look for my posts.. Install, via a terminal: sudo apt-get install gnome-system-tools Then you will get a "users and groups" icon in the "System Settings"- at the bottom ...

Re: Downgrade Gimp to 2.8 from 2.10

Hi I was looking to downgrade as well. Before I did a clean install of Mint 20 I used this command to make a deb file in 19.3 sudo dpkg-repack gimp When double clicking to install on 20, the archive/installer refused to properly open, with a big red band across the top. I then found a site where you...

Make yourself member of the "systemd-journal" group an the red warning in the logs application disappears.
How would you make yourself a member of the "systemd-journal" group?
I have the same error message.
Thanks

Well I got the borders back, was just missing a check mark, but CTRL + ALT + T, did NOT bring up a terminal, and yes I clicked on the empty desktop first, no change ? @rickNS You can create a short cut to the terminal. A look back in time

With the latest edition of Linux Mint out in Beta and the Operating System moved on another step, I began to wonder how it looked in the early years. Well, thanks to the foresight of the Admin and mods of this forum a lot of the old links still exist. Combine that with the internet archive and you e...

Re: Monthly News – April 2020

It's custom for people to claim / blame the usual StatCounter, w3schools, NetMarketShare etc etc as being unreliable. Still, they're the 'best' we got in terms of estimating the general trend, they've been running countless yrs after all, so completely wrong they aren't: 'scientific' or exact they ...

Optical drive opens on boot

Hi I've been running Linux Mint for over a year now with few problems. Over the last few days however when ever I boot up or awake my laptop from sleep mode, the system checks the optical drive (CD/DVD) and opens up the tray. Not exact;y a critical error but annoying never the less. I believe it sta...
