Re: boots to busybox

Now shutdown then reboot the machine. Let me know if it still has a problem. It has worked, the system is up and running. Thank you for the help. I do believe there is a hardware issue, possibly the HDD. I did some searching for partition error 102 and found a statement saying errors 101, 102, 105-...

Re: boots to busybox

there should be an actual error message, in that list, - maybe even specifying to run FSCK on one partition, of that HDD .. can you grab an photo, to post back here ?. I'm not sure what list you are referring to. There is no error when Busybox displays the splash. When the system first boots the GN...

[SOLVED] boots to busybox

I have recently (Sept 3) done a clean install of Mint 20 Cinnamon. I have been doing all the updates that arrive and I don't have any erroneous software installed. Only software from Software manager. I tried to launch Firefox and a prompt came up saying another instance of Firefox was already runni...

It's that game where 22 millionaires are running after a ball, right? Along with Hockey, American Football and Baseball. I would sooner support semi-pro or college sports teams. I was recently at a pro Hockey game and it sucked. The $100 seats sucked, didn't fit my 6'3" body, and the refr...

Re: TV or Monitor

Anyone have an opinion on whether it is best to use a straight up monitor in this situation or would a TV be a cheaper option. My hardware knowledge in this area is limited. I do want good picture quality but don't really want a 'smart' device in my home. Also nothing bigger than 40". Hi andyO, I h...

Re: virtualbox ,where is it?

I agree with Pierre and RlH, an install with the latest version from the VirtualBox website is the best way to go. That is how I installed VirtualBox and the Extension Pack. I have had no issues using it and the virtual machines.

Re: Proper way to create Linux Mint live USB with persistent encryption

I found a tutorial for Ubuntu that should work for Mint as well. https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/14912/create-a-persistent-bootable-ubuntu-usb-flash-drive/ Yes, but the problem with these standard installers as you mention, is that they just burn an ISO image to USB. I need however an encrypted pers...

Re: "Check your video drivers" Linux Mint 20 Acer Aspire

Hi moolightbender. Welcome to the forum. One of the first things I did was read the following post when I was having an issue. https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=83444 I would read the 'Details! Details! Details!' section. It provides a very detailed description on how to get the best...

Re: Proper way to create Linux Mint live USB with persistent encryption

I have Linux mint on my desktop (20) - when I install Linux Mint on a USB stick, I just use the normal installer program, and also select LVM encryption. I don't install Mint 20 to a USB drive. I use software such as Belena Etcher. It creates a bootable live version of Linux Mint. Are you trying to...

Re: How to Defend my Computer from Windows?

If this is a serious issue, is there a way to move Windows to a virtual machine or should I even consider removing Windows from the multi-boot and purchasing a new copy of Windows 10 to use in virtualbox? I was using Virtualbox with a Windoze 10 VM until quite recently. I found alternative Linux so...
