Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3

I don't have any axe to grind re LMDE3 and Mate, my reasons are purely practical. Mate is lighter than Cinnamon on the older PCs I run and because I've been running Mate for a long time now I've become accustomed to it - I even use it on the newer PCs too I'm so accustomed to it. I would like some ...

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3

Exactly my point, Mate wasn't even mentioned, nor were any Desktop options.

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3

https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3590 To all those who are unhappy with the decision to make Cinnamon the default and wish the option to install Mate instead wasn't fraught with uncertainty, I refer them to the above blog. This time I will abstain from putting my, some would call prejudiced, interpreta...

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3

"It’s never been a priority, it doesn’t need to succeed as a distribution, it’s a challenge which tells us more about ourselves, which we need to face and in which we need to do well, not for you, not for anyone, but for us." It's an afterthought, our toy, our indulgence, we do not need to...

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3

I venture that it's the latest in Debian lmde3 fans would be more interested in and if this topic is any indication there aren't too many "Cinnamon fans" among them. :)

http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/stretch/ChangeLog
How many of these would be level 4 & 5 updates that users wouldn't risk, the new kernel update would be one I'm sure.

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3

Unless the devs discard all that they have done till now, if they have been working on lmde3 which i doubt, and begin afresh with the latest release of Debian, lmde3 will already be obsolete by then.. I've stopped holding my breath.

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3

Since my laptop crashed and i've been forced to rely on this android....how about a mint for android, that has got to be a commercially viable project..

Re: Is it the end for LMDE?

Yep it's dead..the commercial necessities of the ubuntu version killed it. Just look at how long it is since Debian 9..they don't any time for it, they can't afford it not for a small bunch of enthusiasts like me with affectations of nerdiness.:(lol)And if there ever is a LMDE 3, i hope they won't t...

Re: New ISO images for LMDE 2 “Betsy”

Yay! "Downloaded 240.8 MB of 1.54 GB, 7 hours remaining", Torrent is slow but i'm assured of an uncorrupted ISO whenever it finishes downloading, doesn't matter if my wifi gets disconnected in the middle, and i can do it in installments. :D Edit: I thought an iso torrent download couldn't ...

Re: Autofill Fields in online forms

Thank you so much, i checked the device number with xinput like you asked and it was 11 (the usb mouse i use on my laptop). Made a few clumsy changes and i have got something that works, i can fill in the fields with a click but not always in the order i want, but it works and we can go about polish...

Re: Display ordinal indicators after date.

The script had a bug, noticed it on the first of March when it began lisping. Fixed it, #!/bin/bash Odin() { case `date +%d` in ?1|21|31) echo "st" ;; ?2|22) echo "nd" ;; ?3|23) echo "rd" ;; *) echo "th" ;; esac } date "+%a, %e`Odin` %b, %Y" Edit: My...

Display ordinal indicators after date.

Found this neat little script that i put to use in my conky.conf in lieu of the conky <time> variable.. Sorry if it's nothing new for most of you but i am impressed enough by it's elegant simplicity to risk adding more clutter to the forum. #!/bin/sh DaySuffix() { case `date +%d` in 1|21|31) ...

Re: Any possibility of a LMDE 3 Beta release before Stretch?

Thanks but no thanks, Fred. I wouldn't want to be the pesky insect who bugs the big guy right now, especially when things are so close to the finish. At best, he'll probably ignore me..and i would rather not risk getting banned from this forum. Why don't you do it for us, you being an old veteran an...

Any possibility of a LMDE 3 Beta release before Stretch?

I am assuming that the development of LMDE 3 runs parallel with the development of Stretch based on their daily builds and does not begin, nor is dependent entirely on the final release of Debian Stretch. If so is a Beta feasible? Just so users can try it on various hardware/VMs, get a taste of it, ...

Re: How-To-Install [NETFLIX]

On Debian Sid i run Isadora (Linux Mint 9) on VirtualBox. I can not only watch any video stream that's available but can also save it from where it loads in /tmp folder. Incidentally, it seems to have taken care of the total freeze issue when streaming videos on Debian, doesn't heat up the CPU and u...
