Re: Update Manager errors. Linux Mint 14 KDE

Just an update for anyone still having issues. If mediabuntu.org is still coming up as not found, it is because it is offline and no longer maintained. On the website, they say it has been this way for several months and they have finally decided to pull the plug (Update as of 9-11-13). After I unc...

Re: Getting constant emails "Facebook login from Facebook Ch

Hi asudell, Thanks you very much for your reply and confirmation. This is very annoying indeed, I'm surprised there isn't lots of more people giving out about it. I don't mind the security emails, I actually love the idea and support it 100%, but what really gets into my nerves is the fact that they...

Getting constant emails "Facebook login from Facebook Chat"

Hi All, Posting this question here because I really don't know where's the best place to ask this, and there's a good chance that someone here will have an answer. Asking Facebook directly and getting an answer is close to impossible. I have configured my Pidgin to connect to Facebook's chat using X...

How to change user password when home is encrypted?

Hello, I looked all over the forum and couldn't find a solution to this. I have LM13 XFCE installed with and encrypted home folder. I recently changed my user password and root password. I did this on the terminal by: sudo su passwd <username> passwd root Up until here everything was fine. However, ...

Re: OpenProj on Linux Mint 14

While trying to fix this I ProjectLibre.

I downloaded the deb package and installed it and it's working fine. I haven't tested it fully to see how compatible it really is with Microsoft Project documents, but it sure looks very promising.

OpenProj on Linux Mint 14

Hi, I'm on Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon 32-bit. I just installed OpenProj, I got the deb package from here . This used to work fine on Linux Mint 13, but now I get this error: openproj_error.png It seems like an easy enough error to fix but I couldn't fix it. I downloaded Sun's Java from here , got the jd...

Re: [Solved] Greyed-out Panel Application Icons

For what it's worth... I also was a bit annoyed in particular by the tomboy and pidgin icons. Too dark! I changed them so that now Tomboy shows the lighter gray icon and Pidgin shows its original good old icons. It looks like this: panelicons.png I use Mint-X icons, and what I changed was, for Tombo...

Never mind! There is a "Symbolic Icons" option on the applet settings window that fixes this!

Re: Menu transparent, editing cinnamon.css not working [solv

Thanks very much!!! I have dismissed the Glass theme but I'm using it now and I think I rather like it!!! I have never been a big fan of transparent panels but maybe I'll start liking them now with Glass. I spoke too soon... The Glass Mint theme (using the one that comes pre-installed on LM14) has ...

Re: Menu transparent, editing cinnamon.css not working [solv

What is it you want done? I can help :D I'm trying to find a similar solution. I'm using the Ambiance Mint theme (comes installed in LM14) and I want to make the menu a bit transparent. I was looking at the /usr/share/themes/Ambiance\ Mint/cinnamon/cinnamon.css file but can't figure out what to cha...

Re: 1.6.7: Desktop icons are gone, missing setting in option

@lunatico I really hope your solution works. I'll stay tuned to know. Up to now, every solution people found (including me) worked for a few times only, then people come back and say: my icons are gone again. Annoying bug. I've rebooted a few times and it has worked every time. I'll post again if i...

Re: 1.6.7: Desktop icons are gone, missing setting in option

My workaround: reinstalling LM13, without activating backported packages updates: I'll stay with Cinnamon 1.4. Obviously, Cinnamon 1.6.7 is not ready. I wouldn't feel comfortable with that solution. 1.6.7 is better than 1.4. I think I found an easier workaround, at least it's working for me. Simply...

Re: 1.6.7: Desktop icons are gone, missing setting in option

I've seen post here saying Nautilus is not installed by default on LM14. I'm not sure that's true. I'm also having this problem. I recently upgraded from LM13 to 14, I did a fresh install. I installed Linux Mint 14 32-bit Cinnamon, and Nautilus is installed. Nemo is there too and is the main file ma...
