Re: Is cinnamon-desktop supposed to install under xfce?

Thanks for the explanation. I decided to just let it do the update, and everything is good now. I was worried it was a bug which would install the entire cinnamon desktop.

Is cinnamon-desktop supposed to install under xfce?

So I just installed Mint 20 XFCE edition on one of my computers today (clean install). Update manager is now asking to install cinnamon-desktop. In the description it says "This library is used by Cinnamon. It contains the gsettings schemas as well as utility functions." Under the packages tab it sa...

Re: Installing Linux Mint from USB stick?

I created a Linux Mint Cinnamon installation disk using Balenaetcher on my desktop PC for installation on a 32 bit HP notebook, the specs of the notebook allow for this installation. My problem is the notebook has Windows 7 pro installed, and for some reason when I insert the USB stick the notebook...

Please help with error messages during boot (acpi error)

Hi all, I just installed Mint 20 (fresh install). Previously had 19.3 running on this PC and it booted in like 10 seconds, but Mint 20 takes significantly longer and I think it's due to these error messages. I vaguely recall that I had similar messages and a long boot time with 19.3 too, but I did s...

How about an android version of warpinator?

I don't know how realistic this is, but I'd like to see an Android version of Warpinator so that I could quickly transfer pictures from my phone to my laptop and PC. Currently I can use bluetooth, which takes like 5 minutes to transfer just 1 picture, so that is not feasible when I got many pics to ...

Keyboard not working for a minute on wake on suspend

Hi all, Mint was working perfectly for me, until a few days ago when an update introduced the following problem: When I wake on suspend, the keyboard doesn't work for approx 1 minute. If I wait a minute, then the keyboard eventually starts working fine. It's just a regular keyboard plugged into my u...

Re: Mint boots fine from usb, but error after installation

Ok I figured it out... When I went into the grub config to add the acpi=off param, I noticed a reference to "multibootusb". Multibootusb is the program I used to wrote the mint iso to my usb stick, it's a program which lets you put multiple linux iso's on the same usb stick and then when you boot a ...

Re: Mint boots fine from usb, but error after installation

If I use acpi=off I no longer get the acpi error message, but I still get the initramfs prompt. If I type exit at the initramfs prompt, I get this error: 20200321_155438.jpg Any idea what it means? It worked great when I booted from usb so I wonder if Mint doesn't like my hard drive for some reason.

Mint boots fine from usb, but error after installation

Howdy, Just tried to install Mint on my PC. It ran fine from the usb, so I installed it to the hard drive. It won't boot, gives this error: ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND, While resolving a named reference package element - LNKD (20181213/dspkginit-440) I'll attach a picture of the error too. 20200321_151...
