Why don't you just overwrite it with a new Linux install? Make sure to backup first or else.. :mrgreen:

I followed the steps to upgrade using the package manager and successfully (as far as I can tell) installed Pidgin version 2.5.8. However, I still cannot connect to Yahoo. I get unknown error 1013. :( Any ideas what might be wrong? I'm running Mint 7. I get the same error too :shock: , but somehow ...

Try this if one you want: Run Mint's installer and in the partitioning section you should see all your partitions both Ubuntu and Vista (noted by sda1/2/3/4 or ntfs). Maybe it's not a big issue but consider upgrading to Mint 7 if you have time; and by the way what do you mean by re-installing the icons? is it adding it back to the panel or..?

just for information, I found that in a new Mint 7 install, the updating process will be terminated if you close the mintUpdate window.
