Re: Mouse wheel scrolls too fast

I found this would happen again after reboot. My elegant solution is to yank the USB dongle out and put it back in. Then the scrolling works again until the next (or sometimes next after that) reboot.

Re: Linux Mint 12 KDE RC Black screen on Live DVD

One of the options when the disk starts up is to check the media for errors. Have you done that? What was the result?

Re: I borked it

Take a look at ~/.kde4/share/config/kdedrc

Look for the lines that look like this:

Code: Select all

[Module-randrmonitor]
autoload=false
Change the autoload to true and you should be back in business.

Code: Select all

[Module-randrmonitor]
autoload=true
I've no idea how to fix your resolution flopping on reboot, sorry.

Re: Mit 12: Icon and GTK Theme won't apply

I'm thinking you might not have all of the gtk theme engines installed, which might me causing your problem. For instance, Firefox is still using GTK2, so you need the GTK2 engines, and if you are using a GTK3 theme, make sure it supports GTK2 (there will be a GTK3 and a GTK2 folder inside the folde...

You didn't log in as root, did you?

Since you have newer hardware, have you tried the proprietary nVidia driver?

Re: Fonts in Mint KDE 10

By default in KDE, font smoothing is turned off. Go to System Settings, Application Appearance, Fonts. Turn on the font smoothing settings. I use Slight smoothing on my LCD screens. You'll need to restart any open applications for the settings to take effect.

Re: Broken packages - again

Firefox has moved to a "rapid release schedule", so version 5 is not very different than version 4. It's more like an update from v4.0.1 to v4.1 than anything else.

Re: mint 10 kde flaky or what?

Maybe I'm anal, but I think things should work right before they are released and I find it odd when people think they are "upgrading" from something that works almost flawlessly to something that doesn't. I quote BubbaBlues, but this is by no means directed at him... My finding has alway...

Re: Have to restart to connect

That workaround works *most* of the time for me. Thanks for helping out.

When it doesn't, my workaround is able to get it back into shape still. So at least I don't have to try and remember to unload my wireless prior to sending the laptop to sleep.

Re: Have to restart to connect

While I don't have a broadcom device, I have discovered a method of getting the wifi to restart in the event it doesn't work after a resume. To figure out which module your wireless uses, try this in terminal: lspci -vvnn <-- if your device is a pci device I am using the ath5k kernel driver. So, I s...

Re: KdeSudo error pops up on every boot.

I think I have figured out where this is coming from.

I have reset to resume my session.

If I try to shutdown or restart with Amarok open (playing stream), plasma will always crash on me. Then, on restart, I get this kdesudo error message.

Try in the System Settings, Application Appearance, GTK+ Settings. You can pick another theme from there.

Re: Found a minor bug in Mint 10 KDE RC

Sounds like those windows are trying to get your attention. No idea why... but maybe there's a window rule that you can set to ignore requests for attention from GIMP? Or maybe there's a setting in the task manager settings on the panel to turn off requests for attention? Or maybe it's a GTK thing w...

Re: KdeSudo error pops up on every boot.

This was happening to me, too. I solved it by doing one of the two: 1 - Finally had a successful "clean" shutdown. Plasma kept crashing on me and one time, it didn't. The next time I rebooted, I didn't get this prompt. 2 - I went into the settings and set "start with a new session&quo...
