Re: VPN

I have ProtonVPN (free version) installed which seems to work pretty well. Only three countries (USA, Japan and The Netherlands) but was good enough for me to 'relocate' myself. The installation is via. the terminal but the Proton instructions are explicit. You operate via the Connections popup on t...

Re: Increase font size on Login screen

If you have a High DPI monitor this may work..

Administration>Login Window>Settings>Enable HiDPI

Worked for me when I wanted smaller on a Low dpi screen..

Re: an Old Fart looks back

During a bit of a clean up the other day I opened an old Erinmore Flake tin to find inside a pristine unused OC44 transistor I had bought in 1962. Up until then we used valves (vacuum tubes to some). I still have some of the famous 807's valves so I should make a 'tube amp' but I doubt I will..

Re: Mint 20.1 approved for beta release

I've copied LM 20.1 to my Ventoy USB for the time being. Runs fine here.

Impressed with the included Hypnotix IPTV app. Works well on the few channels I checked.

Re: Jumbo sized login screen.

@Squiggles , thanks for that. Strangely I had never scrolled down there before! I will go thought the options. A mistake in my OP was that the size of the login box is about 40% of the screen width, not 20. @SMG, sorry about that, I inserted the wrong system info. As far as I can tell I'm all up to ...

[SOLVED] Jumbo sized login screen.

No a big deal but since I clean installed LM20 Cinnamon the login screen has really large text. The box where the password is entered is about 20% of the width of the screen and everything else is equally as large. Maybe I bumped something during the installation that I should not have. I've spent a...

Re: G'day from Oceania.

Born and bred in Sydney but moved to Perth January 1987. I think a good decision now when looking back. Re ADSL/ NBN, switched to nbn 50 two months ago. I stayed with ADSL2 as long as I could. Got good (for adsl) speed and absolute reliability. Since going to nbn I have 10X upload and 4X download sp...

Re: Newbie Partitions. Live in Linux but still need Windows .

I only started with Linux this year as a 76 yo geek. Been using DOS/Windows since the 286 days. The first installation I did was to an old ASUS laptop which I had upgraded to SSD and 8GB RAM. All went so well I thought I would install Mint to an external SSD to use with my existing Windows Lenovo la...
