Re: Webcam image is upside down...

Checked earlier, there is no feature to flip it. Btw, does Linux Mint have some Device Manager that could do that? I can't find it. Will try the command later. Btw, would this util apply the flip permanently? Would it distort the output of guvcview too (since this is currently correct now)? ...i'd s...

Hi, I am using a old Asus laptop and installed Linux Mint. I realised that Google Meet video is upside down! I installed guvcview and captured the video and noticed that it is upright and in order! So, it may not be my webcam issue? Anyway, how do I make Google Meet video appear upright? There is no...

Re: Need help to create login script to modify /etc/hosts

Hi rene, Thanks for all the help all along, really appreciated it! "/etc/sudoers.d/" method could work, but by default, my child's login cannot do sudo and I wanted it to be in this way, don't want to allow any elevated rights! I have also considered the router option, but there are 3 problems: 1) R...

Re: Need help to create login script to modify /etc/hosts

I had done some quick tests and noticed that the sh files in the /etc/profile.d are NOT run again when a user simply switch to another user (without logout) and log back in later. For example: When User1 login the 1st time, the /etc/profile.d/ scripts are run ---> Good! Then User1 (did not logout) s...

Re: Need help to create login script to modify /etc/hosts

Hi, I did some testings, able to put script into the /etc/profile.d and have it run accordingly. Let's call it MyTry.sh. However, still having the following issues: * The MyTry.sh script in /etc/profile.d, although can be run accordingly when login, it is still being run as the login user, not as ro...

Re: Need help to create login script to modify /etc/hosts

Thanks for the replies, I will try to play around and see. Btw, some additional questions: * Linux Mint allows current login user to switch user, without logout. So if this user was to login again (without the earlier logout), would the .profile still be executed? * There seems to be a /etc/profile ...
