Re: A Week with Windows 10...

I am a semi-serious photographer and have been on the Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop ecosystem for a while. Other than that, I have no need for Windows for my personal life. I just have it on my home systems because my wife is a software engineer and can get free Windows 10 licenses, and the inertia for ...

My experience wtih creating a Live USB

I wanted to share what has worked well for me in terms of creating a live USB for running Linux on a nominally Windows10 -based system. This information may be trivial to most people on this forum, but another newbie like I am may find it useful. I started with a 32GB USB drive. I first formatted th...

It is not just which browser that one prefers, but also which search do you prefer in tandem with that browser, duckduckgo, startpage, etc...DAMIEN
I use DuckduckGo which I think is the default for the Brave browser.

Re: which browser you prefer

I have been using Brave exclusively on my Android phone. Works fantastic. I just loaded Brave on my Mint USB drive but haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

Re: Building new PC - best option for dual boot with Mint

Thank you all for all the advice! I am sure to be drawing on your experience when I start my build. I am currently running 19.3 Cinnamon off a 32GB USB, about 8GB partitioned and formatted as FAT32 for Mint + 2GB persistence, and the remaining 28+ GB partitoned and formatted as NTFS that can be moun...

Re: Building new PC - best option for dual boot with Mint

Thanks a lot, everyone! Lots of great advice!

With COVID-19 home confinement looking to be in place for a while, I figured I'm going to take the opportunity to put together a nice home office setup. Am ordering a sit-stand desk tomorrow, followed by the rest of the computer parts. Can't wait!

Hello, everyone!

Hi folks, Old-timer here, worked extensively on Unix in grad school in the 80s, then on Linux for engineering computing for work since then. At home, I have dabbled with various distros, most notably with Mepis in the 2000s. I tried out Mint recently, booting off USB, and was really impressed. I am ...

Building new PC - best option for dual boot with Mint

Hi All, First post.. great to be here! I'm an old timer - grew up with Unix systems in grad school in the 80s, and have used Linux quite a bit since then, pretty extensively for work for engineering computing, and off and on at home, mostly Mepis in the early 2000s. I have been playing with Mint, bo...
