Dataease alternative

Evening all! :) My mother works for a charity that has approx. 10 workstations and 5 laptops running Windows XP. The main use of their PCs is for a database program called DataEase. The version of DataEase that they use was released in the mid 80s (yes, really!). Obviously, it's an MS-DOS app, and i...

Re: Katya's /etc/gdm/Xsession

#!/bin/sh # # This is SORT OF LIKE an X session, but not quite. You get a command as the # first argument (it could be multiple words, so run it with "eval"). As a # special case, the command can be: # default - Run the appropriate Xclients startup (see the code below) # custom - Run ~/.xsession an...

Re: 2ManDVD, ManDVD & Mint 9, Mint 11

I just installed this program to see if I would have any issues. On starting for the first time, it warned me: "dependency missing: exif"

I ran 'sudo apt-get install exif' in a terminal, and have had no other errors since.

It's easier to just use a live CD, surely? Much smaller download, too.

Re: Old Compaq

You need to have some disk space... or you need to look at other distro: DSL, Sliztaz, Puppy, Slax, etc. Try this to boot from the USB: http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager.html There are others ways of installing and other tools: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=65022 http://boot.kern...

By default GRUB won't show if you only have one operating system installed.

To force it to show, hold down shift when you boot the PC.

Re: Where do you put scripts in Gimp in Mint?

There is a hidden folder in your home directory called either .gimp-2.6 or .gimp-2.7, depending on which version you are using. The scripts folder is inside there.

Re: need help with wifi adapter

I'm assuming that you have a wired connection.

You need to enter the following in a terminal window:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer
That should take care of everything for you :)

This is the third thread asking this exact question in as many days... the search box is a great tool ;)

Anyway, the solution is to run this in a terminal:

Code: Select all

sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
