Hi thanks for the suggestions. I can tell you for definite the cable is not an issue since I'm able to access my network drive with the same ethernet cable connected directly to my PC with Windows 7 automatically. Surely Linux can do the same without having to give a static IP?

well.... I havn't tested the upgrade of kde 4.3 on Linux Mint since the missing libs have been uploaded to the repo.... So I can't guarentee that it will be successful or not.... but if it does stuff up, you can remove it and go back to what you had....... open up a konsole sudo nano /etc/apt/sourc...
