WARNING: apt does not have a stable CLI interface. Use with caution in scripts.
It probably created that package.list file, so look for package.list in the directory your terminal is currently in.

Thanks for saying that. I was thinking that too. Sudo is OK and needed, but root is a bad idea.

Re: HDD activity light sometimes get stuck on

I will have to get a new SSD and learn how to clone the failing drive to the new one.
If there are really 319 bad sectors I don't think I would clone it.

Re: Moving Timeshift to another drive...... (SOLVED)

Neither could I find a way to specify where to create the timeshift file.
You open TS, click on Settings, click on the Location tab at the top, and click a radio button for an EXT4 partition found by TS:

Re: Cinnamon main menu disappeared [SOLVED]

Would you use a snapshot for this problem and why?
Because it is a good test to see if setting in home is the problem.
Take a snapshot. Restore an older one. Then come back to the current snapshot if you want.
Not real fast and kinda scary, but it generally works well.

Re: instillation

but the screenshot is not there either
If you don't have a Timeshift snapshot to restore, or a disk or partition image, then you can't easily get back to LM 20.
When upgrading to a different OS, taking a Timeshift snapshot is recommended.

Yes, that is a well-known problem that doesn't happen very often for some reason. Here are notes I have on it. windows time is off by 5 hours: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=2295228#p2295228 https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=391574 https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?...

Re: how do I install GParted on Linux Mint 21.1?

as it is case sensitive
Software Manager is not case sensitive. Most shell commands are case sensitive.
what would be the shell commands to install GParted from the shell
I think this would work:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install gparted

I think Uninstall might be the correct one to use.

I think a Timeshift snapshot restore is in order.

Well I'll be darned. My LO Writer 24.2.3.2 does exactly the same  And of the 6 directories you list (and I see in my open dialog box) I don't have these when checking with ls: config data db So in the file open dialog box I double click on data and it opens and shows: . ru.png . Hello and welcome to the forum.

The topic you mention is this one:

From what I read I think you need to disable Secure Boot in the bios.
Manipulating the bios is not a whole lot of fun, but I think you need to do that.

Re: After reboot in Terminal mode

I would use my Live Boot to restore my ~/.bashrc file from backup. Then restart and see if it boots up.
If not, then I would restore a Timeshift snapshot to see if that helps.
If not, I would do an image restore (via Clonezilla or Foxclone).
If there is no disk image I would do a reinstall of LM.

OK, I understand that. There was something in the newer version of LO that I had been using on Mac that I liked. That is probably a good reason to upgrade. I wouldn't spend too much time trying to get the primo install. If by some freak of nature you manage to do so, within 1 - 3 weeks it will no lo...
