LibreWriter & Copy/Paste

I ran across an issue where some elements on a web page using Chrome (Latest stable) and/or Firefox do not paste in to a Libre document. Has anyone else ran into this issue or is this a limitation to Libre writer? I have managed to narrow it down to certain elements that are not pasting into a docum...

When I inserted it to another computer I can try it with no problem. Halt the boot up process at the main scree...

Re: Considerations before you install

Make a list of the components that make up your computer, such as, the video card, processor, memory, etc. Then search the Linux forums for each device to see of there are any major install or setup problems listed. Print off or take notes of any changes you might need to make during or after the in...

Re: Upgrade Mint 13 to 14 did not go well

In all my 25 years of being in the IT world I have rarely seen an "upgrade" that is 100% flawless. There are just too many moving parts for the developers to consider when trying to deploy an upgrade. I always find it best to backup your docs, etc. and perform a fresh install.

Re: Questions about Defragging or Antivirus? Look here first

You are simply incorrect. Any OS connected to the internet NEEDS some kind of antivirus software to prevent infections or from being a carrier. To say Linux doesn't need it is absurd.

Not a Question - Just making a statement

I am using Linux Mint 14 Main Edition and for the first time I have been able to download burn, install, and setup a version of any distro that works on my laptop. The only changes I had to make was the removable and re-install of the intel/ati drivers to get my AMD/ATI HD 6770M video card to work. ...

If you are connected to the Internet, you have increased your chances of obtaining a virus that will either infect your computer, or another computer by 100%

Backup Software Reccomendation?

I'm looking for a simple to use backup software that has a gnome interface and can backup to an external hard drive. Maybe something that utilizes rsync so to keep the backup files small? Any ideas?

Thanks

Thank you Mint!

I have been a windows user and IT guy for over 20 years. For the last 10 I have been playing with Linux off and on. Each distribution I have played with over the years has either wasn't polished enough or it took to much configuration to get it too run. I have tried Ubuntu, Opensuse, Fedora Core, De...
