YouTube DL Has Gotten So Slow Lately

Whenever I'd download a video, the pre-processing phase was only a few seconds. Now pre-processing takes at least 2 minutes to finally complete. Is there a way I can improve the application's speed (such as updating it if possible)? Is anyone else having this problem as well?

Re: What's Your Opinion of the PinePhone?

I receive, Monday-Friday, a fair number of (usually group) text messages which are work related. Six things: 1. These are all straight SMS/MMS messages; 2. Since they're work-related, that means a company-sanctioned system must be used; 3. Since SMS/MMS is the LCD that everyone is guaranteed to be ...

Re: What's Your Opinion of the PinePhone?

What if nobody you know wants to communicate through encryption? What if some do and some don't? Usually why wouldn't want to is they've been conditioned into thinking that sending and receiving unencrypted messages is perfectly "normal", and having to encrypt them is an "unnecessary, extra step". ...

What's Your Opinion of the PinePhone?

I've been aware of it's existence for the last few months, and I might look into getting it because it genuinely tries to put an effort into protecting it's user's freedom. I also like how both the hardware and software are libre. One thing I'd like to know before getting it is does it come with the...

Re: First impressions of Ubuntu Touch

I'm glad I suggested this OS to you in that other post, and I'm glad you like it so far. I was just reading on Wikipedia that the PinePhone Community Edition runs it pre-installed. What's nice about the PinePhone in general is even the hardware is libre, and Pine64 (the organization that manufacture...

Re: I got fired from my job last week because of my autism :(

I worked at a place for people with disabilities. For some reason, they had me doing customer service work over the phone. I guess because from the skills I have that fit the jobs they have, it pays the most. Somehow, I did well at the lower level, but they required me to move to a higher level and...

Re: What's Your Opinion on Self-Driving Cars?

I am all for self driving cars. Finally no more restraints from drinking AND driving. The future is now, let's get drunk and get in our self driving cars! Let's get stoned as well. And have sex. Having an affair while driving, will open new possibilities. Why not install a bed into a self driving c...

Re: Should Mint be Put on Other Devices?

Android is based on Linux and therefore one could say that Linux, (simply by being the base for Android smartphones) is already the biggest and most popular operating system in the world. Launching a particular Mint version or Ubuntu version on a smartphone/tablet has my fullest sympathy, but it wi...

[SOLVED] How Do I Change the Font in the Start Menu Window? (Spider-Void Desktop Environment)

I'm trying to change the size (and possibly the style) of the font so it's bigger and easier to read (and so it looks cooler), but I don't know how to do it. I was able to change the size of the font for the taskbar though.

I have no issue with you PM'ing me, but generally it's better if we keep it in the open forum, so others may benefit from what transpires. I'll reply either way, so it's up to you.
That works too, especially if someone has another way of solving the problem.

Ahh, sounds good. Like I said, it is not uncommon for there to be issues when HDMI and suspend are involved. This get's around that nicely. The next option would probably have involved rescanning the graphics bus to try to solve it.
I'll PM you if I need help with this issue again. Thanks!

Re: How Do I Stop the Sound from Crapping Out in Sleep Mode?

Sorry, at the moment I can't think of what else to try. Tomorrow I should have some more suggestions. EDIT: Actually, when sound is working, run sudo alsactl store . When it drops, try sudo alsactl restore . If that doesn't work right away, then add pulseaudio -k and if necessary restart VLC. Actua...

Re: How Do I Stop the Sound from Crapping Out in Sleep Mode?

A reboot will load the 5.3 kernel. If there are issues with it, you can boot to the 4.15 kernel from the grub menu by selecting Advanced Options. If you don't get the grub menu when you boot, holding the Shift key during the boot process should bring it up. For some, tapping the Esc key does it ins...

That figures. I can't remember if I've seen reports of this on the 5.3 kernel, so I'd suggest giving that a shot.
I just installed it. What do I do now?
