I assume the drive doesn't auto-mount when you plug it in?
How did you try to reformat it?
Which model of external drive? WD makes quite a few.

Re: "No Cert. Authority cert. chosen" wireless issue
It appears that you are connecting on campus, and the window which pops up is your browser. That means the dialogue is controlled by the folks who set up the network, and has nothing to do with Linux networking. They should be able to answer your questions. Linux networking doesn't ask for your stud...

Re: Wireless LAN GUI
I have never used a Mint/LXDE combination, but I think Network Manager is what you need.
It might be useful if you say what is underneath LXDE, eg. 32-bit Mint 13? LMDE?

Re: Fresh Install Upgrade checklist
1. Being able to do a fresh install without losing any data is the reason for using "three partitions". Mind you, a small error during installation can accidentally wipe your data, so you must be sure to have complete backup. Ideally, one backup to Dropbox.Skydrive etc, and another onto an...

Re: [Bug] Lock Screen
I have run into this with the LiveCD, and it's very annoying. At least you can reboot. When does this lock screen happen? Is it on the LiveCD or the installed system? What version of Mint? For example, it might be "32-bit Mint 15 with Mate." You might be able to avoid this by running Syste...

Save what image? If, for example, you run Firefox and you want to save an image from a web page, you can right-click on the image and select "Save Image As". However, some web pages do not allow you to save the images directly, so you have to use Print Scr, then paste into an image editor....

Re: No Task Bar from Install
Is this accurate: you installed Mint, and when you booted the system, there was no bottom panel?
Is this on a laptop? Brand and model? Screen resolution? Video adapter?
What version of Mint? For example, "32-bit Mint 15 with Mate."

Re: Hard drive space dissapearing until reboot.....
When you run Disk Usage Analyzer, you click on Scan Home and wait for a bit, and you should be able to drill down to see where the used space is. One piece of information which might be relevant is the name of the game, or is it any game? The problem might be a file in /home rather than a folder, in...

Re: Outdated package in Manager / Installing Editra?
They do suggest removing any older versions before you do anything.
Then you extract the folder Editra-0.7.20 from the .gz file into some location, cd into the extracted folder, and enter the command:
python setup.py install
Are you saying that is what you did? Perhaps you missed the cd part?

Re: webcam not working
I'm sorry, I have never used Linux Mint Debian Edition. I think it is a semi-rolling release, so Mint's version numbers do not apply. I'm surprised the kernel stayed the same, it's very old. I was going to suggest a method to upgrade, but first I Googled: lmde kernel upgrade. I didn't find anything ...

Re: Youtube fullscreen crashes
I tried very hard to recreate your problem. With an fully updated 64-bit Mint 15 with Cinammon, I played a Youtube video in full screen, and tapped the "super" key. The menu came up, I pressed ESC, it went away. No problem.
Sorry, I don't have a suggestion for you.

Re: Strange Refresh Problem, Dual-Monitor, Nvidia
I have a 9400 GT and a computer slightly less powerful than yours. I have never used two monitors -- no desk space!
Have you tried different settings in Nvidia X Server? Maybe under OpenGL Settings or Powermizer? I have Sync to VBlank turned on, but I can't remember if that is a default.

Sorry, I'm puzzled. My only suggestion is to try Mint 15, 64-bit with Cinnamon.
All the models in the G72 family should work just fine.

Four places sound might be muted:
- the speaker icon,
- Sound Settings,
- the application,
- a volume-control built into many earphones or speakers.

Re: keyboard-configurator kILL cAPLOCK
I am using that version of Cinnamon, although it's Mint 13. I think this will get you to what you want: - click on Menu and type "key," then select "Keyboard Layout." - click on the Layouts tab. - click on Options in the bottom-right corner. - the fourth entry is Caps Lock key be...
