Read article doesn't seem to be my problem. My system is not freezing. Synaptic asks for password and looks like its starting (greyed-out),then disappears. My bad, was problem Did this: Its time to edit the config file for apt. Ubuntu users can find this in the following location. /etc/apt/apt.conf....

apt, apt-get not working (solved)

I got this using apt

kdrumm@ken-laptop:~$ sudo apt install dillo
[sudo] password for kdrumm:
Reading package lists... Done
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
wget works as does dpkg -i
I d/l apt_0.7.6ubuntu14.1_i386.deb and used dpkg -i to install
but still get same thing.
any ideas

This is a good one. My homepage has been hijacked. I'm not sure when it happened. My homepage loads on ff startup, but it's http://www.s.com I want google. I have google set in preferences but http://www.s.com comes back. Even with homepage set to blank in preferences I get http://www.s.com it's not...

Use grub to boot iso disk

Something has gone wrong with my CD drive. Disks won't boot goes straight to grub. I can open grub terminal so would it be possible to make it go to CD drive. I'm waiting for Dayana to make a clean install.
Or will a netinstall be possible.

Hi all, !st let me say The cd's are good. BIOS is set to cd 1st. I dont know but it seems to jump to Grub to fast. Mint and XP boot fine from grub. The last thing I did was update linux-686 I think. I finally hit the partition and install buttons for Mint Linux. Its hard to do when you have a decent xp running.
