Re: Looking for a 2d engineering drawing program
Hi RIH and billyswong, Thank you both for the suggestions. Since your posts I have been doing a lot of reading. I have read through the ‘help’ files of qcad and libecad as well as having a look at some of the other programs that are available. I have installed both Freecad and librecad. Although Fre...

Looking for a 2d engineering drawing program
Hi all, I have been tasked with a major redesign of a pair of bogies for my clubs 1 ¼” gauge (track gauge) electrically powered Hymek locomotive. It is a large loco, being around 6 feet long overall and will be a passenger hauling vehicle once we have replacement bogies. Before you ask the existing ...

Re: Shewing pre Proleptic Gregorian calendar dates in LO Calc [SOLVED]
Addendum. For anyone else reading this post I can’t emphasise enough that with spreadsheets the cell formatting is very important and should be decided upon and set up before any functions or data is added. In my case as discussed above columns A , B & C were formatted as Numbers with the Format...

Re: Shewing pre Proleptic Gregorian calendar dates in LO Calc [SOLVED]
Since I wrote my previous post I have altered the code a little. It now has the order changed so that the initial three column are Day number, Month and Year rather than the original way. Although a minor change it has helped me to better understand what was going on. You are never to old to at leas...

Re: Shewing pre Proleptic Gregorian calendar dates in LO Calc
My gosh Wakatakakage, that is one hell of a line of code. You must have taken hours to work that out. I copied it into a text file so that I could examine each part of it. I then looked at each function individually and experimented with them in dummy spreadsheets. I think (hope) that I now can unde...

Re: Shewing pre Proleptic Gregorian calendar dates in LO Calc
Hi Wakatakakage , You have obviously taken a lot of time looking at my problem and setting up that dummy page. I really appreciate that. Thank you. To clarify. My column D is for display purposes although certainly be the column I will be looking at more than the other three. As you said, sorting wi...

Shewing pre Proleptic Gregorian calendar dates in LO Calc [SOLVED]
LO 7.3.2.2. Mint 21.3 Cinnamon. I am attempting to create a spreadsheet to list certain events in chronological order. I am asking for help to resolve two problems. The dates involved will run backwards from the present day to quite early times - c. 1100s or possibly earlier. (Please note that this ...

Re: Compressing files that are generated by a script
Thank you for that axrusar. I had been, rightly or wrongly, thinking along the lines of using zip but decided that it would not give the ease of use I have at the moment. I have just skimmed through the man page for tar, but am doubtful if that would give my current ease of use either. I am going to...

Compressing files that are generated by a script
I have a script that runs overnight and copies all of the folders and files from one folder into another, freshly created one. The relevant part of the script is cp -r "/home/<username>/<folder_to_be_copied>" "/home/<copied_folder_name>/<destination>/$now" (Names obscured for sec...

Re: [SOLVED] Suddenly unable to use Gmail in Thunderbird
Thank you for that SMG; and for persevering with me. I used the word ‘password’ simply because it was in the ‘Passwords’ file and when I highlighted the line the option was to ‘Copy password’. I still have such a lot to learn. Please excuse my ignorance.

Re: [SOLVED with a workaround] Unable to use Gmail in Thunderbird
My Thunderbird is able to both send and receive mail using my gmail account once again. At last I seem to have a found a permanent solution so will mark my initial post as SOLVED. As I noted above in password manager I had two entries. I had a lot of (un)interesting time searching around and eventua...

Re: [SOLVED with a workaround] Unable to use Gmail in Thunderbird

Re: [SOLVED with a workaround] Unable to use Gmail in Thunderbird
Oh dear SMG. Are we talking at cross purposes here. I had deliberately removed my forwarding address before taking that screen shot which therefore didn’t shew the full details. What I wanted to shew was that Google call it forwarding as can clearly be seen in my screenshot.

Re: [SOLVED with a workaround] Unable to use Gmail in Thunderbird
Hi SMG , It seems that I was not specific enough and things have got confusing as a result. I have several email accounts all of which I access using the Thunderbird email client. When I stated that I forwarded my Gmail to TB what I should actually have said was that I forwarded my incoming Gmail to...

Re: [SOLVED with a workaround] Unable to use Gmail in Thunderbird
Easy answer mikeflan . I was unable to send or receive. No matter which I tried the warning I put up in my first post appeared. As to the second part; I compared, actually I noted via a lot of screenshots, the TB settings in the defective profile then closed that profile and then opened/loaded (with...

Re: Unable to use Gmail in Thunderbird
Hi mikeflan Can you elaborate on what you did to do that? Did you put a message forwarding rule in gmail webmail? If so, what does that rule say? In my Gmail account I selected Settings>All settings>Forwarding and POP/IMAP. You set the address and IMAP or POP settings there. AZgl1800 Gmail does NOT ...
