The tarball is the tar file you downloaded from the internet. The tar.gz file you mentioned. But, you said you downloaded it now at the software cebter now right? Try launching it at the Menu.

Go to where the downloaded file is located. Then, double-click. Post a picture of the contents of the tarball. Also, Minecraft is in the Software Center.

Press anything from ESC-F12. From there, there are logs you can see whether something failed or what's it's doing. Same method when booting up as well.

This isn't a Linux reason. It's probably because of a recent update of Windows. Try Win+S and see if it works.

Do you have 2 EFI Partitions? If so, check which have LM in it and mount the partition. Then, open a terminal, and go look for the UUID, or device location, etc. Mostly starts with /media/(username) Then, cd /media/(username)/UUID.
