Re: Mint 12 KDE

Add my experiences. I loaded LM 12 onto a spare hard drive and added KDE-full. The install went well, no problems until I started noticing some things were not the way that I was used to. 1. The ~/.gvfs directory is a GNOME mounted filesystem and it cannot be deleted. I unmount, remove and it comes ...

Re: [Solved] Missing Menu Items

Thanks pbanerjee Thanks for the suggestion but after a couple of more things such as being unable to use a pae kernel. I downloaded it, installed it and selected it but it kept being overridden. Maybe Kubuntu cannot see all my memory? I removed LM Kubuntu KDE and installed wheezy. The install picked...

Re: Missing Menu Items

Thank You LindseyD for the information. I checked the links and the information appears to be valid in my case but I am not sure. The LM menu is a bit messy due to the app MATE. I have many, many entries that are not visible but I think they may be in a state of toggle depending upon which GNOME you...

Missing Menu Items

Hello

I just installed LM12 and then I added kde-full. Everything works well except I am missing some menu items.

The items 'Services' and 'Hardware Drivers'(?) are missing.

Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Unable to Find One Update

Thank You for the reply. That was one that I checked quite extensively. This distro apparently (?) cancelled out the upgrade button in Synaptic so I downloaded a vanilla version from Debian. The new version with an upgrade option reported twenty plus upgrades held back (all xserver related) and no o...

Unable to Find One Update

Hello. Using up to date LMDE with KDE included. Got this problem. MintUpdate shows my system up to date while a broadcast message reports "There is 1 update available." Please see attached image. I have tried all available update download sources but with the exception of about 20 - 30 xserver updat...

Re: We need more testers to the new incoming repo (how-to)

I will also volunteer but a question first. This/These new repositories being populated by LInux Mint people will they include KDE updates? I am strictly a KDE user. My LMDE has an injection of KDE-full and a few hundred more packages. My suspicion is that the updated apps will not be KDE. Anyone to...

[SOLVED] Re: Bug Reporting Site - Endless Loop

Thank You for all the replies. The problem if there is one belongs to Firefox or Launchpad. Adding cookies - allow for session only works in this instance if the cookies are set before I go onto the launchpad.net site. I usually allow no cookies but I add them when and if necessary on the basis of t...

[SOLVED] Bug Reporting Site - Endless Loop

Hello . . . I received a few hundred updates yesterday to my LMDE KDE and now I have a few different bugs. One is worth reporting but I cannot get it to the bug reporting site. I entered my user name and password then got sent to https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+filebug/+login unfortunately tha...

LTS Upgrade from . . .

Hello. Not a happy camper! I was notified yesterday about approximately 306 upgrades to my Mint LTS KDE 9 through MintUpdate. I began the upgrade (KDE 4.5.3) and a message advising about broken packages appeared. Couldn't get this app to work. I used apt-get, aptitude and Synaptic in the right order...

Mint Debian + KDE = ?

Need some expert advice. I downloaded the Debian Mint and it works live with no apparent problems except already there are almost 300 updates available. I want to run KDE 4.5.?. I can download the packages with no problem except I need to know some basic information. 1. Has anyone loaded KDE onto an...

Re: LMKDE9 - mintupdate - Unable to change icons

Follow-UP I have located the source of the bug. The mintupdate.conf file in /etc directory contains the path + filename of the icons. In my particular case the path+filename equals the first location of my own icons. Let me explain: I did not want to use the current system tray icons so after some w...

LMKDE9 - mintupdate - Unable to change icons

Bug Report - LMKDE9 - mintupdate - Unable to change icons I find the new icons in mintupdate in the system tray too small to distinguish. I easily see the shield but not the inner graphics. The older icons were much better for my disabled eyes. Using the mintupdate form tab 'Icons' I began changing ...

Re: Mint 9 KDE Update Icons

homebaze Thanks for the reply and the suggestion. It had real potential. I still have LMKDE8 on the old hard drive so I searched and searched for the icons and then I searched for mintupdate. /usr/bin/mintupdate directed me to /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintupdate/icons. I found them and copied them to one ...

Mint 9 KDE Update Icons

The current icons for the Mint 9 KDE Update app are causing me some inconvenience. The shield icon is visible but it is too small for me to distinguish the centre pattern. The previous padlock design was much better for me to see. I tried to revert back to the old icons but I did not know their loca...

Re: [solved] Mint KDE9 - Partial Instruction Displayed

rec9140, Thank You for the reply. I assume it is the correct one. I have marked this solved. Unfortunately it doesn't really solve the problem. I have logged out, turned off and restarted many times since loading MintKDE9 and it keeps coming back. Synaptic reports the file, libavcodec-unstripped-52 ...

Just got it again.

The exact message is, "Once the install is finished, you will need to"

Thanks.

[solved] Mint KDE9 - Partial Instruction Displayed

Just installed 9. Works well. Some hiccups but significantly less than normal. Surprised about KDE 4.4.5. Thank You :) . NetworkManager worked out of the box. Screensaver dissolve still taking too long. My bug report to KDE returned advising me the app has not changed in two years so it must be some...

Re: fortune cookies deleted in bash script keep coming back!

I've got a solution. It works for me. Create a bash script that incorporates only #/bin/sh save it as fortune-mint and make it executable. goto /usr/bin/ and locate fortune-mint. It is an executable bash script. Rename it to something. Don't delete it. Move the previously created fortune-mint script...

KDE 4.4.5 Upgrade

Hi . . . I've got a minor problem. No way can I get the KDE 4.4.5 files. I 'think' I am using LM8 KDE CE with a base of KDE 4.4.2 although some of the KDE files show KDE 4.4.3 in Synaptic. Nowhere can I find a way to display the LM version. (1) Please show me a way? I have added all the right reposi...
