Re: How do I see the error messages at startup?

You can check journal logs with terminal command journalctl -b 0. You can filter messages by priority with option -p x (journalctl -b 0 -p x) where x can be from 0 to 7 (0=emergency, 1=alert, 2=critical, 3=error, 4=warning, 5=notice, 6=info and 7=debug). Read man journalctl.

Re: Interesting "issue" with updates

The tablet finished the update whilst the laptop was still downloading the flatpak update. If both machines have LM on SSDs, the disk is probably not the main reason for a slower update on Toshiba. The main reason for slower updates on Toshiba could be the lower download speed of updates from the ...

Thank you, Lady Fitzgerald, for the explanation regarding identifying USB controllers and ports. It would be interesting to check if outputs of terminal commands lsusb -tv and inxi -Ja are consistent with your guesses from the block diagram of the motherboard.

Re: USB slots

My desktop computer has 13 USB ports on the back I/O but they run from only 5 controllers on the MOBO so, to avoid creating bandwidth or power issues, I'm running only one port per controller. I am wondering how you identify the 5 USB controllers and which USB port is working from which controller....

Re: Linux Mint XFCE 21.3 - Hangs / Gets Unresponsive / Extremely Slow and SWAP Increases To 90%.

The System Information provided in the System Reports app (which is what we ask people to provide in How to get help) is the output of LANG=C inxi -Fxxxrzc0 --usb and not what you posted. If I run LANG=C inxi -Fxxxrzc0 --usb in terminal, I get different output than in System Reports. For instance s...

Re: Getting a strange error message on shutdown, right before power down

With terminal command journalctl -b -1 -r you can display log messages from previous boot-shutdown in reverse order (last messages before shutdown first). You can filter messages by priority with option -p x where x can be from 0 to 7 (0=emergency, 1=alert, 2=critical, 3=error, 4=warning, 5=notice, ...

Try terminal command sudo smartctl -a /dev/sdx where sdx is the device name of AS350 SSD. Package smartmontools should be installed before. Do you also get high temperature in the output?

I have to warn you against tlp in advance (a package available in the repos but not installed OOB which purports to optimize power management in laptops) which some users may advise you to install. tlp is really good for my ancient Thinkpad but can be very buggy and not really compatible with newer...

Scan and print from Linux Mint. If that does not work from your LMDE 6 installation, open a new thread and we will help you.

For help about creating Windows live USB you are not in the right forum. On this forum we are discussing Linux Mint operating system.

Before formatting 1 TB disks check where the efi partition is and try to boot from a 2 TB disk with both 1 TB disks disconnected.

I am glad that we have solved the problem. I recommend tlp program to optimize battery power consumption.

I wonder if the A3511 was running okay on battery (without mains power) when the battery was not recognized in LMDE 6.

Re: Battery status of laptop not shown

Strangely, it looks like the battery is really not recognized by LMDE 6. What output do you get with the command ls /sys/class/power_supply ? Is battery working okay in Windows 11? Is fast startup disabled in Windows? If you boot in a live session from LMDE 6 installation media, do you get the batte...
