You may want to consider trying to describe your problems in a way that somebody may actually be able to figure out how to help you.

Re: An OS for the rest of us?

Re: Problem installing Vuescan (SOLVED!)

Hey Mick, Merry Christmas to you as well. I'm running Mint 7. Actionally I am not using the software either, I just became curios after reading the thread ... .tgz file - needs Wine - no mention of Wine on program homepage .. huh? So I downloaded the .tgz, extracted it, ran the executable ... and it...

So you need to install Wine.No problem
Why are you making things so incredibly complicated?

* download the .tgz
* extract it
* run the vuescan executable

So probably

Code: Select all

cat /boot/config-`uname -r `
gives you the information.

Good stuff. Little correction. Your crontab line is not executed every six hours, but every day at 6am. To make it every six hours the line should be * 0,6,12,18 * * * cd /home/deadbot1/SOHO ; rm /home/deadbot1/SOHO/latest.jpg ; cd /home/deadbot1/SOHO ; wget http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realt...

How can I use Mint to improve my set up. The users are not ready for Mint but certainly I like to use it on the server, I strongly advise against playing with the configuration of a production set up when there is no need for a modification. Even more so as you don't seem to know what you would lik...

Mint ships with Brasero. Brasero has a "Burn image" mode.
