Re: Wallpaper

Thank you very much for sharing.

Animal photos look fine and dandy but I have a soft spot for sunset scenery. They make me serene and melancholic, will sure download quite a few.

Hello,

I read X11, and would just say you don't need to. :D

What do you Jean by download page size? Are you using Firefox? What is the download address of that game?

Re: DualBoot / Wrong Time in Win10?

Sorry to hear that. I had exactly the same problem and could solve it this way. But to each their own, I guess.

For Windows, you should be able to add this batch file to the startup folder in the Windows menu.

Re: XnViewMP - segmentation fault in LM20 Cinnamon

Hi, I had used XnViewMP in Windows for a while, a capable image viewer/editor.

It is not in the repos I guess. How did you install the previpus, working version?

Re: autostart conkyfile on login

As if the window composition manager hides it... There should be a setting to disable the window effects in XFCE. Can you disable it and restart the sesion to verify if this is the case, please? Besides, are you able to see it on the desktop when you run this line from the console? N.B. Do what MrEe...

Re: Restoring Grub Menu

Thanks for the help. I read your article that you mentioned and I know now that there is no way to get back the original grub system without a timeshift snap shot. I will try to edit the word in the program like you said. Since the LM 20 is out today, I will do the clean install instead of upgradin...

Can you expound on the dmesg boot logs? I haven't heard about them before.
It is the boot log which also keeps the error and warning messages. Could be helpful for identifying problems:

Code: Select all

dmesg | grep -i "error\|warn\|fail"

Re: Linux kernel?

Also please enter your UEFI (BIOS) settings to see if you can handle the issue from there. I have learned the hard way that you can also configure the boot order from UEFI from the following thread, but cannot confirm as my machine has BIOS only: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=322...

Re: Webcam no longer working after move to Mint 19.3

No problem for taking time. :) As a final resort, you can try Mint 20, which has just been issued: https://linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=281 You can boot the system with the Live DVD and check if the webcam works. This won't be conclusive however, given the fact that you had the same with Mint 19 Liv...

Re: Dual boot trying to change default operating system to linux

AndyMH, Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. In a UEFI install BIOS controls the boot order for the installed OSes and devices. Normally when you install mint it will put itself (labelled as ubuntu) at the top of the list in BIOS. A subsequent windows update may put itself at the top of...
