Which version of Mint do you have? This will determine which one to go for. It'll be the .deb for the one that matches the version of Ubuntu that your Mint is based on. Note: I use youtube-dl in the Terminal and haven't tried the graphical frontend, so probably won't be able to help with that aspec...

yes I second this. This program is so easy, all you need is to paste the url and it always work, unlike those youtube download websites.

For grabbing YT videos, I use JDownloader 2, which is a stand alone Java app.

Go to the three-bars icon at the right corner in FireFox Click on that and select Add-Ons. Within there you can search for "video dowload"

there is no search bar present!

Install guvcview and see if that works for you; it has always been my very simple go-to for video capture.
