Found a solution that, so far, works.
Instead of mapping to the Alt_L key, I mapped the Space to the Insert Key
Seems to work.

I have only tried on Firefox & XED,

Was hopping to map to the Windows key, but can't find the code, does anybody have that info?

Fixed one problem and found another. There was some type of corruption in the XMODMAP file output. I booted up from my install stick and ran xmodmap -pk | grep space and sure enough it found 65 0x0020 (space) 0x0000 (NoSymbol) 0x0020 (space) So I did a reinstall of Mint 20 and the key-mapping is kin...

Just dual booted Win10 & Mint 20 on a Sony Viao where the Space key is not functioning. So I want to remap the Alt_left key to the Space key. Dual Boot Mint & Win 10 partition problems

I have an old Sony Viao, updated to Win 10, and I am trying to dual boot Mint 20 or Mint 19.3. Everything goes along nicely until I get to creating the Linux Partition. I used the Win 10 Disk Management to shrink the main volume, no problems and it shows 11.62 GB as Unallocated . So far so good. BUT...
