Re: Installing Linux Mint from USB stick?

I'm failing to see what is so "wrong" with a proven albeit entirely optional solution to the problem reported. Please enlighten me.

Re: Installing Linux Mint from USB stick?

Please indulge me while I throw a couple of clichés here: with great power comes great responsibility; and there's no such thing as security through obscurity. 8)

Re: Installing Linux Mint from USB stick?

I have had a similar problem in the past and it was caused by a wrong or absent partition ID triggering Windows to want to format the drive. My solution was to use Bootice (https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Boot-Manager-Disk/Bootice.shtml) to change that ID. Bootice is a single executable for Win...

You're too kind. I'm just this old fogger who couldn't find his way out of a paper bag, it seems. :D

Re: Suggestion: "Mark forum read"

Ooooh! I see it now. Apart from being dyslexic, I'm the one who must be going blind, I searched high and low for it.

Thanks a lot to both my kind helpers.

Here it was all along, for the benefit of any lost newcomers like myself...

Re: Suggestion: "Mark forum read"

Excuse the thick newcomer but, while I'm on SeaMonkey ATM, I already tried with the latest Firefox and the only place I could find such an option was a the top level -- as displayed in the first of my screenshots. :o

Care to point me to where it is a sub-forum level?

Re: LM20 can't get persistence to work on a live USB

At first look it's a heck of a lot more complicated than LiLi, where you just; select the stick, select the .iso, select amount of persistence, and click go (the lightening bolt). Setup is as easy as plugging your pendrive in, running Ventoy , choose a couple of options, and let it rip. Then you ju...

[SOLVED] Suggestion: "Mark forum read" [already there!]

In trying to keep up with the unending flow of information here, forum control granularity looked like an important feature to me. I spent sometime looking for a " Mark forum read " button in different forums and locations, only to realize (after Googling it, duh!) that it was only available as a li...

Great read, even for a noob like me. 8)

A similar account of my fiddling with (very!) limited Linux knowledge: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3159.

I might try doing the same with LMDE sometime.

Re: LM20 can't get persistence to work on a live USB

You could try Ventoy -- setting persistence up with it is a simple matter of editing a JSON file and creating 'casper-rw'.
