I wouldn't do that if I were you if t42's comment is a direct cause.
To be honest, I have been planning to leave this forum for a long time (I don't really like communication on forums). I don't blame anyone.

Re: Linux use shrinks during Corona

You don't need to see insults everywhere. This is a sign of mental illness. It is not everywhere, it is in your very words quoted above, implying by proxy that someone is elitist. On a side note, the language model and the lack of real content in the bulk of your comments strangely resembles an alg...

Although Linux is not popular with home users. Not with home users? What do they do, stand in the street? I should have been more precise. The reality is when you are running WINE you are in fact running Windows with all the inherent security risks that come with it.
I'll take that into account.

Re: Best Anti-malware?

Well, one thing that nobody has addressed (I don't think) is the issue of spyware, which is something that's even more important to me to avoid than a virus! Does Linux do as good a job of preventing that? I think no OS can completely prevent complex target attacks. But an ordinary user can hardly ...

It would be nice. But hardly feasible in the near future.
For the next 3-5 years, most-likely. If the economy improves after that, I'd say go for it.
I doubt it will be possible in the next 3-5 years. Although who knows what will happen in the next few years :D

I don't either, because WINE is a considerable security risk....

This is in theory. In reality, this is unlikely to create problems :D

Re: Best Anti-malware?

The most important thing is to always install applications for Linux from official reliable sources. And don't install many unnecessary apps. In this case, the chances of getting a virus in Linux are practically zero.

But if I don't get anything at all, what can I do if I'm unlucky enough to get a virus or spyware or some kind of rootkit? This is unlikely to ever happen (If you ordinary user Linux ). I think need to return to the topic. I am confident that the future of Linux is secure. This is the most important thing. Although Linux is not popular with home users.
But in a sense Linux is already widely accepted.

Re: Best Anti-malware?

Linux users don't need antivirus.Linux itself provides ample protection. If your security needs are very high. You can use Linux distribution specially focused on safety.
For example Qubes OS
