Re: Drivers failed to install with Linux Mint?

I went ahead and installed the Nvidia-driver-470. To my surprise, it made it beyond that error screen I talked about, and ended on a black screen with a _ in the top left. I did see login in the terminal text as it was booting, but it quickly went away and left me with the _ black screen That is us...

Re: Drivers failed to install with Linux Mint?

It would be helpful if you would post all the output you get when you run that command. Can you run it again and post the output between code tags? I was going to, but it was the exact same as the last one I sent, at least from what I saw. Is the Nvidia-470 showing as available to install in Driver...

Re: 165hz option not available

Long story short: It uses lspci, and only prints GPU's with "VGA" in name, which excludes Optimus style Nvidia units because they are listed as "3D controller" Not all Optimus-style laptops are wired the same. Many Optimus-style laptops with Nvidia GPUs do have "VGA" i...

Re: PC doesn´t reognize NVidia GPU

I am using an Asus A15 and today i noticed my PC wasn't recognizing my NVidia GPU. Are you dual-booting with Windows? If so, did you happen to change the GPU setting in Windows? I think there is an Armory Crate app or something special ASUS has that permits you to make changes to the GPU and when y...

Re: 165hz option not available

The GPU field and the renderer field are two different fields in inxi output and the GPU field does not only show the first thing found in lspci. I was referring to the screenshot; not inxi. I believe the information on that screenshot comes from inxi output, but I'm not positive. I tried to find t...

Re: Clevo XMG P65 Laptop with Nvidia & Gsync - 60Hz only on LMDE 6

Right, it has Intel & Nvidia GPU. I'm always using discrete mode - Nvidia GPU only. When I choose MShybrid in Bios, it boots with a blackscreen on every linux. I've never heard of MSHybrid, but it sounds like a setting when running Windows and MS=Microsoft. I don't know what it might mean if so...

Re: Extended monitor sort of not working

Seems I have the community stumped :? Please open the System Reports app and click the System Information tab on the left. Your computer's information should come up in the right pane. Then click the Copy button in the lower right and paste the results into a reply window here so we can see how Lin...

Re: Dim Display on Dell 3535 when on battery

Greetings to all of you. I have an issue with screen brightness on a Dell 3535 that I purchased a week ago, and was promptly loaded with Mint Cinnamon 21.3. Your computer has a 7000 series Ryzen. Please upgrade to the 6.5 kernel in Update Manager to get better support for your computer. Instruction...

Re: Hibernate stuck on, and not shutting off computer

Thank you, that fixed it!I thought automatic updates would automatically update the kernel too. They will upDATE the kernel. They will not upGRADE you to a newer kernel series. Going from 5.15 to 6.5 is changing the kernel series. How do i mark my issue as solved? Please go to your first post in th...

Re: 165hz option not available

That seems like a bug to me (even if just a small "paper cut" bug). If the system is in Nvidia/performance mode, then it shouldn't tell the user that the Intel GPU is the "Graphics card" just because that was the first thing it found in lspci. I asked the following question: Whi...

Re: 165hz option not available

should this say Nvidia GPU if its the loaded gpu? https://i.imgur.com/yNghVQG.png No. As I already explained, your computer does not have a MUX switch which means regardless of which GPU is rendering, Intel will always be the GPU which displays. Therefore, Intel will show as the GPU. This is an art...

That looks like I would expect to see for On-Demand mode. I think you are all set.

I'm not aware the order of the modes changes in the applet. The mode currently in use is the one highlighted/bolded.

Intel-Powersave is what is showing in the tray icon? If so, change it to On-Demand mode.

Let's try getting rid of some of the 545 packages with

Code: Select all

apt remove nvidia-driver-545
and then

Code: Select all

apt autoremove
If that doesn't work, let's just try installing the 535 driver.

Code: Select all

apt install nvidia-driver-535
