Re: Second monitor is incorrectly recognized

Most people have complaints about monitor resolution because the native resolution is not showing. My understanding of what you have presented so far is that is not the case here. You have a personal preference you want for each monitor and Mint is only remembering to use that personal preference fo...

Re: Poor video performance for GEForce GT 1030

Videos on IPTV or You Tube is just a succession of pictures and not a smooth video. Even the mouse pointer is not smooth (jumping about 1 cm between to consecutive positions). Also typing is very slow. The Driver manager give me 4 available drivers for GeForce GT 1030: 1. nvidia-driver 470 (recomme...

Re: Long lags in dual screen mode if I turn off laptop screen in settings.

Could Linux be installing the wrong driver, like it does on my desktop system? On it.I have issues every time I update the OS I get video issues like no acceleration acceleration until I go to the NVIDIA website and get the correct driver. What is the "wrong" driver? In the data you poste...

I did a quick check of the bug reports posted so far for the kernels causing problems for you and do not see anything which seems to be a similar issue to what you are noticing.

Re: Nvidia GeForce GT 710

Thanks for the swift response, restarting with CRTL-ALT-BACKSPACE has no effect, still the same. I will try the second solution tomorrow and report back. If Ctl-Alt-Backspace does not fix the issue, then I would not expect the fix roblm recommends to work. You should not need a newer driver for the...

Re: Lid laptop close -> suspend not working

I do not know the manufacturer of your laptop. It is possible someone else with this laptop may have run into the same issue and there is a solution out on the interwebs, but I have no more ideas based on the data you have presented in this thread.

Re: Nvidia GeForce GT 710

This seems to say that all is OK but when I start the PC I get a message saying that I am not using graphics hardware acceleration and will have poor performance. When you get that message, restart X Server with Ctl-Alt-Backspace. If that corrects the issue, a more permanent solution is in this pos...

Re: MSI GF75 Thin 8RD and cooler management for Linux Mint (fancontrol)

I just don't think that updating the BIOS will somehow help in this, or am I wrong? I know manufacturers do make BIOS/UEFI changes so there is better temperature control, but I know that because those manufacturers have listed what changes they made. There is no information listed on the link I fou...

rod@rod-HP-WS:~$ journalctl -rb -1 | nc termbin.com 9999 https://termbin.com/n4ss Your description sounds like the computer is resuming from suspend which is a separate issue from the display resuming from suspend. If the computer is still running, then there is no reason to power it off to get it ...

This could be related to another bug that I found on the Gitlab instance you mentioned - https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/1647, though the same messages do not appear in my logs.
I have seen messages related to firmware in logs, so I would think that issue is different.

Here is the linuxmint / cinnamon-screensaver GitHub . I do not see an issue for this yet. Perhaps one of you with the issue has a GitHub account and can post the issue. I don't use a screensaver and would not be able to describe the issue correctly.

That's not true, the list contains several pieces of information that are not in the least related to the problem, such as the host name etc. Host name does not show in the version of inxi I currently have, but when it did in past versions I just substituted my forum username. I've seen others put ...

Re: GUI crash - AMD RX6700XT - GPU Reset followed by repeating errors in syslog

I am a little confused when you say that the journalctl was dated today (22/07/21?). The dates in the logs are from 19-20th in https://termbin.com/gisf are they not? I was thinking Saturday-Sunday (17-18th) being weekend which is why I said what I did. I had my Tuesday-Wednesday mixed up when I sai...

Sure enough, low resolution, no hardware acceleration issue remains. Then back into ever...

Re: Broken Nvidia Driver

Your Ctrl-Alt-Backspace suggestion to restart the X Server totally worked to set things right temporarily--upon using it everything reverts back to the proper higher resolution, presumably with hardware acceleration as I've lost my little cinnamon desktop driver manager warning. X Server runs in th...
