Re: Check your video drivers on every boot.

It's a VM. I'm using basic graphics. Cinnamon does not have "basic" graphics requirements. That is why the code checks to make sure what it needs to run properly is available. Your system apparently does not meet those requirements. Cinnamon checks for hardware 3D rendering. The graphics ...

Re: IrisXe-Graphics Driver for Linux Mint 20.02

Now my problem is, that Linux Mint did not install the graphics driver. Welcome to the forum, Stannat . The data you posted indicates the kernel did install the graphics driver. All the graphics drivers appear to be installed, so that is not the issue. Re: Can't boot Tara after kernel update: can't restore via Timeshift

Ok, so I am not able to find any screen that allows me to remove a kernel. Am I in the wrong menu? You do not need to remove a kernel in order to boot into an older kernel. You boot into the older kernel and then delete the newer one in Update Manager after the operating system boots (using the old...

Just received update

Code: Select all

9.1.1-1ubuntu0.1
everything works now :D
Glad it is working. I already had that update installed when I tested. That's why we ask what the specific updates were. It can sometimes take a while before updates propagate to all the mirrors.

Partition 3 does not allow me to run a check.
Probably because it is mounted and in use. See my previous post about your swap parition.

Thanks for the leads! Here is what gparted looked like: Does that look right or am I in real trouble? There are others on the forum with more experience than me on this issue, but that looks correct to me. The boot flag is on your EFI partition. Swap is locked because it is in use. Re: Black Screen on HP EliteBook 8440p w Intel Graphics

As per my initial, I never attempted Cinnamon. Was already worried about graphic issues based on posts between Cin vs Mate, so just went with Mate, There are no Edge versions available for MATE or Xfce, so the only way to test a newer kernel in a live session is to use Cinnamon. I was just suggesti...

Re: Very Low Performance/FPS from New RTX 3060Ti

I did find this link https://itsfoss.com/nvidia-linux-mint/ although obviously it isn't a link to a forums.linuxmint.com conversation. ctrl f " Troubleshooting tips" ( or scroll about one third a ways down the webpage) That part of the article describes installing a different driver from ...

Re: Mint 20.1 Cinnamon drivers

Thank you for the reply. When I was trying to to load Mint 20, (Karl) was helping me) we had a real rough time with the drivers. I finally gave up and loaded an earlier version of Mint. However I would really like to do it now if there is no problems, but I now find myself afraid to chance it again...

Re: Very Low Performance/FPS from New RTX 3060Ti

There have been cases where the end user had to install the driver via nvidia's website download. I'd have to dig deeper to find the mint forums exact url. I've personally helped people to do it here on the forum, so I do need to see urls. At this point, I do not see a reason to recommend using a d...

I've got a very annoying bug since performing last updates begin of this week : Welcome to the forum, Thierry. Re: DisplayLink not detecting Displays

Yesterday I managed to finally get DisplayLink working and it even worked over reboots. Did you check a shutdown and start-up too? The difference between the two is the entire system is powered down then restarted versus just restarting the operating system (reboot). At the end of the day, I shutdo...

Re: Black Screen on HP EliteBook 8440p w Intel Graphics

As I mentioned I installed Ubuntu only a cpl mnths back, so it was the latest vers out (so 20.04.2.0 LTS). I just looked up the kernel for it and it is listed as 5.8 which is newer than the LTS kernel in LM20 (which is 5.4). The 5.8 goes end of life in August, but this Mint ISO Linux Mint 20.1 &quo...

Re: Very Low Performance/FPS from New RTX 3060Ti

So now I upgraded my Kernel to Version 5.11, but performance is unfortunately still worse than before in most games (but easily playable in the less demanding ones). That sounds like an issue with how the game is using what is available rather than an issue with Mint. If it was an issue with Mint t...

Re: Are these issues connected - Nouveau boot text, dconf-editor warning and Nvidia driver?

In spite of the above it all seems to work but I am concerned that something is not right. I'm not sure what your questions really are, especially since you indicate it all seems to work. Your system is using Intel graphics according to the inxi info you posted. Do you want to use the Nvidia card (...

While the line below normally indicates it looks for modules for your kernel, the kernel listed is not one of the supported Ubuntu kernels and is not the kernel listed in your inxi output above. Looking for nvidia modules in /lib/modules/5.11.0-16-generic/updates/dkms Might you know where you obtain...

How would I check the drive? There are some tests you can do in the Disks app. After opening the app, make sure the disk you want to check is selected in the left pane.
