Re: Second monitor not detected - AMD GPU

I recently installed Linux and am having issues with my external second monitor being detected. My PC is dual-boot and when I boot into Windows, it works perfectly fine. The second monitor is connected via HDMI to a Targus USB-C Universal dock. I have followed the standard steps and it appears my h...

Re: AMD Display Driver (Rembrandt) crashing too often

Is there a posted list or thread that comes to mind for you, recommending the best devices to purchase going forward? Not just for current support, but staying well supported in the future as well? As I rtfm about this there is a lot of noise, so I ask since you previously pointed out this is all c...

Re: Nvidia GPU Not Being Used

Thank you for the support! It has seemed to work (partially at least), although it is using my AMD card rather than my Nvidia one. It appears your system is in On-demand mode. That means the renderers for both GPUs are loaded, but the primary is AMD. Graphics: Device-1: NVIDIA vendor: Lenovo driver...

Re: AMD Display Driver (Rembrandt) crashing too often

Do not have kernel parameters ( if you mean added to grub config? ) and I am using Linux 6.5.0-28-generic with the firmware updates. When I try to run -oem kernels, the crashing is worse. Right now I achieved 3 hours uptime with Screensaver disabled using -generic . Yes, kernel parameters are added...

Re: AMD Display Driver (Rembrandt) crashing too often

At that point I can still SSH in, and possible could recover the GUI, but it feels unstable at that point and I gracefully reboot... except for the fact that eventually the session gets forcefully logged out, and all application state is lost. That sounds like the driver crashed which took down X S...

Re: AMD Display Driver (Rembrandt) crashing too often

Thank you for moving this thread to its own post. My apologies. Risking another post since one theory seems to be paying off for the moment: I have disabled Screensaver. It feels like this ( new, major ) issue is not one issue, but one weakness in the system which is easy to trigger in many, many w...

Re: Questions regarding swap in Mint

I do not know for sure, but it seems that Mint creates a swap file of 2GB not matter of the RAM size. At least this was the case with my 8GB RAM and 32GB RAM systems. On the other hand, Ubuntu seems to create swap depending on the detected RAM of the system. I just read that link and I don't see wh...

Re: Screen flickering in CHEWI Corebook X with 21.3

Yeah, my bad. With "properly upgraded" I meant that I'll be using this laptop for audio/video production where I'm including Windows dlls such as audio plugins etc. which in turn use yabridge . Now yabridge , as far as I know, needs kernel 6.6 to work properly. I installed the kernel from...

This is what happened when I run this command on the terminal: sudo apt-get install nvidia-driver-545 The below is in that output. Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.15.0-107-generic (x86_64) Consult /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/545.29.06/build/make.log for more information. dpkg: error...

Re: weird issues

how do i boot to grub? One does not need to boot to grub to update the BIOS/UEFI. Why do you need to boot to grub? If you mean you want to get to the grub menu, repeatedly tap the escape key during boot to bring up the grub menu for an UEFI boot computer. the hdds have issues on start up or shut do...

Re: nvidia gpu question about 5.15 kernel

Thanks for the info. Also I wanted to say that using 6.5.0-35 kernel version still occurs the same issue has before I mentioned on this topic. However the newest 5.15.0 kernel version works perfectly. If you have the time to test, (it's okay if you do not) see if 6.5.0-26 kernel works. The person i...
