Re: Would this be hard and risky?

If you haven't booted into Windows for several months, and if you are at a point to give up on Windows, then do yourself a favor and start completely fresh with a clean install of Mint, wiping Windows, reclaim the SSD and make the computer a Linux only computer. Stay with the normal Grub and MSdos p...

Re: Kdenlive Video Editor

Hi "lewone", It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run " inxi -Fxzd " from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information. What is your goal or task that you want to accomplish. What ...

Re: Anyone completely Un-Googled?

Anyone completely Un-Googled? Au contraire. I am completely Googled. And why not? You know they sell the data they collect, but so do all the others, and yes Moem, also those companies you trust. Only they are too much of a coward to admit it. They do it sneaky. How else do you think these companies...

Re: Viewer that can horizontally flip images

In KDE's Gwenview open a picture, open the menu Edit and select Mirror for horizontal "flipping" or Flip for vertical "flipping".
It's that easy.

Re: LibreOffice macro - end of line regular espression?

Back in the old days a return was shown as \0D (0D = zero D, or character 13 in decimal). Maybe that still works.
I have no idea if it does.

Re: Can't install Epson WF-3640 printer

I have a different Epson printer, an XP-530, and I am using the Gutenprint driver. Gutenprint is a set of printer drivers to use with The Gimp program to print out pictures. It does not only work on The Gimp, it can also print from within other programs, every program. It should be in the repo's. I ...

Re: Please suggest me a Mint Version

Stay with Mint 17.x, don't use 18 or 18.1 since it will make your computer way too slow. Happened to me on my wife's computer which had a q6600 quad-core 2.4 GHz processor. Mint 17.3 was okay but as soon as I installed 18 (complete fresh install) it came almost to a complete stop.

Re: Mint 18.1 all forms So Slow

My wife has a 9 year old PC and she was using Mint 17.3 with the KDE desktop. Ran pretty good. A few weeks ago I decided to update to 18 (or 18.1 I forgot) and it was as slow as your snail pulling the train. I tried Manjaro 17.1 on it and it was pretty fast again. Now she has a new PC and it is ligh...

Re: Mint Box Mini Pro

The MintBox has a weak processor. If I were you I would get a 5th or 6th generation Intel NUC with an i3 processor. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16856102093 Add 8GB of RAM for $50 and another $50 for a 120GB SSD. Right around $400 for everything and you have a much better pr...

Re: Mint Box Mini Pro

I don't have one, but: Is the 120GB solid state is enough for what you need? If not, you'll need an extra storage device (added cost). Will the CPU handle what I need to do? Do you need a CD/DVD reader/writer (another added cost). You'll need a monitor (more added cost). ,,, For that price, you pro...

Re: Mint Box Mini Pro

Form factors of that size in my experience tend to run very hot since they are passively cooled versus active cooling and being confined in such a small case doesn't allow for proper heat dissipation. True, I read somewhere the internal temperature can be 50C, so yes, that's not cold. But, my wife ...

[SOLVED]Mint Box Mini Pro

Hi all, I was looking at the Mint Box Mini Pro and I have some questions about it: Who has one and is it what you hoped it would be? The PC costs $395 plus duty, shipping and tax. Any idea how much that is when it is shipped to The Netherlands? How much is added and is it still a competitive machine...

Re: Can't figure out how to put a directory in the home file. I want to check my mint 18.1 mate DVD

The details depend on which desktop environment you use, but it is probably almost the same on each one: Open your file-manager (dolphin in KDE, thunar in XFCE, nautilus or caja in Cinnamon and Mate) It will open in your home folder. Right click an empty space there. A pop-up will appear. Choose add...

Re: Change folder view from icon to list

In KDE it is even simpler: In the toolbar you find 3 buttons, one for icons, one for compact view and one for details view mode. Just click the one you like to use and all folders show files and folders in that way. https://www.google.nl/search?q=dolphin+filemanager&newwindow=1&source=lnms&a...
