Re: Razor-Qt and LXDE-Qt projects merge!

as soon as I can apt-get it... :D

probably try it out, not find anything special, decide that a slimmed/tweaked KDE desktop is just as easy on resources and offers more, not bother with it again...

Re: Razor-Qt and LXDE-Qt projects merge!

...so after you install the minimal kde desktop install your favorite minimal apps But I was referring more to razor-qt than lxde-qt as I do not know what it will be like. I just don't see anything magical about razor-qt at all, in fact I think kde probably uses less resources once you strip it down...

install a minimal kde desktop, turn off search/effects/compositing and you have a desktop that uses 128mb on a fresh boot

is anything lighter really needed?

You would have to change your sources to point to whatever you want to upgrade to...assuming that is what you want to do...not recommended I suspect...

Re: Debian forum, Mint haters

You got the freedom to hate Windows. You got the freedom to bash Windows. You got the freedom to hate Ubuntu. You got the freedom to bash Ubuntu. I got the freedom to not like a community with the highest goal: to not be Windows (no matter what costs). I even got the freedom to not like it without ...

Re: Debian forum, Mint haters

Arrogancy! It's all in this single word. I noticed it as well. As long it is not Debian, it sucks to their opinion. Its not that it isnt debian it just sucks for some other reason...just happens to not be debian in that case. Sometimes debian sucks or some things about debian sucks...but the good p...

Re: Debian forum, Mint haters

That cliquey, circle jerk, "RTFM" attitude is a hold-over of early 2000's Linux message boards and the nerd-rage snobbism that surrounded it. says martymint the user with MINT in his username....probably has the mint tshirt and pom-poms too no doubt...nah that isn't clique-ish... :D ...in...

Re: Debian forum, Mint haters

I say I can see why because Debian purists see Ubuntu as heading in the commercial direction. I didn't say I had any preference, but Mint? What is their beef with Mint? Not Debian enough? (obviously not, but what offends them so?) Yea, what I am saying is you would have to ask them to find out. To ...

There are many things I like and a number of things I dislike. I have reasons for both. In this distros fare no better or worse. It isn't a flame to express your like/dislikes anyway. I can, to some extent, see why they dislike Ubuntu. But why Mint? Why do you feel it would be acceptable for them to...

Router died and the new one is a Netgear DGN2200 (supplied by ISP) which doesn't support Linux shares. just thought about it and realized it is probably a readyshare device so I take back my earlier comment :) readyshare devices are problematic You might go into the router setup and see if you can ...
