Re: Videos won't play

In simpler language... It works without a hitch with IE7/8, Opera 10b3(after refresh) and FF3.5 on windows. However, on GNU/nix it does not work at all. I have tried sending wrong info and agent-id, no success. I haven't given Safari a try, but I'm now putting an ISO together for OSX86 to give a try...

Re: Klibido cant connect via stunnel

You're right. What does this show? netstat-l | grep nntp How about trying it from the terminal and applying the debug option - D ? stunnel -f -c -h -D secure.myways.net:000 -d 127.0.0.1:119 Right now I'm not on LiMit, I will have to continue this at home (if you haven't found the answer as yet). Unt...

Re: Trying to use Synaptic Package Manager

Sorry to intrude on this already good answer, but maybe patching the 3.05 version is not a bad idea, that is, if you're comfortable with getting your hands dirty (the results stay with you). Grab the diffs file: http://rsync.samba.org/ftp/rsync/src-diffs/rsync-3.0.5-3.0.6.diffs.gz and patch (http://...

Re: Klibido cant connect via stunnel

I took this off: http://fixunix.com/ubuntu/340887-ssl-capable-nzb-downloader.html This person had exactly the same problem. Well, Stunnel is already doing its job when I use Pan, so it is not a Stunnel issue. What I discovered was KLibido needed my authentication username and password, even though P...

Re: Apple Trailers

Try installing mplayer and mplayer-plugin (w32codecs already active) and try it again.

I edited this because it was probably too much nothing. I have taken it upon myself to see if there is a way around this.

Re: How to remove Linux Mint google search

I think why so many new people are flocking here (linux mint forum) and to LinMint is because they get qualitative answers to their problems. But, when we go off like this we start sounding like the Java, FreeBSD, Perl and OpenBSD forums. Then it's no longer "not like the others"... we do want them ...

Re: abiword+Opera

I am not sure what your problem is but try downloading the file as deb and installing: Opera: http://www.opera.com/download/?custom=yes AbiWord: source: http://www.abisource.com/downloads/abiword/2.6.8/source/ or through the channel (synaptic). Also sometimes it's easier to download a file using wge...

Re: Getting [Errno5] Input output error using unetbootin

ERRNO 5 is an input/output error mostly because of faulty CD/DVD-disks, drives or even faulty hard disks. I saw this on the Ubuntu forum once (copied it to a text file for archive purpose) Credit goes to simplysimple Once UNetbootin has finished writing all the files to the usb 1. Open the usb so th...

Re: Videos won't play

The actual Adobe version is: 10.0.32.18 The actual version of the Adobe flash player in the channel(repositories/synaptic) is: 10.0.32.18 (two versions: . 10.0.32.18-1jaunty1 and 10.0.32.18ubuntu0.9.04.1) As far as I know, they openly said that they wanted to create a cross platform player, apparent...

Re: Can mint play DVDs out the box

It would be usefull if you would post the error message you are receiving. Most times a dvd that cannot be played is the result of codecs or configs. I have tested with copy protected DVDs and non-copy protected and the results are the same, they played without a problem. Like I said before, please ...

Re: I can't use Nvidia

I'm not sure if this would apply to your problem, but before I activated my Nvidia card I went to first synaptics and installed "nvidia-settings" then activated my card. When it completed I restarted and the I could now access the Nvidia settings without getting this message. Give it a try, it just ...

Linux Mint 7 installation experience

Hi yall! Just thought I'd share this for the mint Team... First allow me to say that I'm not coming from windows to *nix. After having fought with Desktop rendering problems in FreeBSD and the correct usage of my NVidia card in Ubuntu, I decided to go back to Debian (the marriage didn't last long ei...
