Re: Installing Mint 14 causes black screen

Hey faduda, I have the exact same computer as you, so I can probably help you out. The boot command is the first instruction the computer runs, to know where the operating system is installed, and any special parameters needed for a successful boot. To edit it, roughly follow the following instructi...

Re: Installing Mint 14 causes black screen

Hey Kykaios, Your problem probably has to do with the backlight not turning on. The system is actually working fine, that's why you see a faint logo and activity. If you point a flashlight at the screen, you will actually see everything on it :) To fix it, add the following at the boot command (inst...

Re: Annoying Authentication during Shutdown/Restart

Hmm. The solution posted in this thread didn't work for me... for good measure, I changed all the inactive prompts in that file to "yes", but I still am asked sometimes for my password when I shutdown/reboot...

Re: Plymouth theme for LMDE - V2 8/21/11

I was having the same issue witht the blue bar on my LMDE system, with an ATI card (as far as I know, this SHOULD work with NVIDIA as well, or at least it shouldn't break anything if it doesn't). Solved by following the instructions from this page: http://www.my-guides.net/en/content/view/125/26/1/1...

Re: VLC loading network files in KDE

I'm guessing that the locations that the original poster was accessing the network share wasn't really a "mount"? Perhaps somehow it was a redirect to a protocol that vlc didn't support natively but dragonplayer did? I don't really know enough to even be guessing, but I couldn't help it. ...

Re: VLC loading network files in KDE

Well, after posting the previous message, I went and tried it and it didn't work for me. But I have finally figured out how to do it. You need to install the cifs-utils package, and with that you can use a program called mount.cifs in the command line. So, what I did after installing cifs-utils: sud...

Re: VLC loading network files in KDE

Hey! Although this thread is pretty old, seems like the issue is still present, at least in KDE 4.6 RC2, where network files are "streamed" in Dragon Player but "downloaded and then played" in VLC, SMPlayer, etc... A solution can be found in comment #3 of the bug report, https://...

Re: El reloj atrasa!

Re: Linux Mint 7 'Gloria' KDE released!...

And it is GOOD. Congratulations on some great work. After months of distro-hoppin' (got tired of PCLinuxOS after a year of happiness, since the repos were starting to grow small for me, and KDE 3 was starting to get old), and even going briefly to GNOME, I finally found a good implementation of KDE ...
