Re: Installing Ubuntu Tweak on Mint 18

Thanks everybody for the feedback on Ubuntu Tweak. I will leave it off. Is there a good alternative for clearing out the junk? Isn't Mint 18 great!

Re: Linux Mint 10 "Julia" released!

Thanks everybody. i am impressed with "Julia". It definitely seems faster on my good old Dell laptop, against the previously installed "Maverick". The main bonus for me however is that I am now able to download programmes on BBC iPlayer, which I could never manage before. Great j...

Re: Music

Hi DrHu, Thanks for taking the time to reply to my query on music notation software on LINUX. Since my original message I'm afraid I have "waved the white flag" and stuck with "Mozart" via a dual Linux/Windows XP set up. I have tried various Linux solutions but they all seem a li...

Re: Calibre

Hi Husse, Thanks. The eBook reader situation is improving all the time. I've found a "new kid on the block" by the name of "Plastic Logic" which is said to rival Amazon's Kindle. I will probably go down that road or something similar as my faithful old PPC is getting a little lon...

Hi Husse,

I quiet agree. Neither would I. As far as I'm concerned the jury is out regarding this software.

Hi, As an avid eBook reader the only reason I keep Microsoft XP on one of my laptops is to enable me to synch my PPC and download and install ebooks. I have just discovered "Calibre" and it seems almost to good to be true. Their site gives you full downloading instructions, fully supports ...

Re: Linux Mint 6 "Felicia" released!

Hi Clem, Many thanks to you and your merry band of helpers for finalizing "Felicia". I have now got it installed on both on my desktop and laptop computers. It looks and it works beautifully. I don't know how you make the time to work on Mint. All I can think is you must have a very unders...

Nice to hear from some other "Silver Mints". I thought I might have been the only one around! Doesn't all this "Hi Guys" talk get you down, in my younger days we called each other "Chaps"!

Re: Lucida Handwriting font

Hi sputty01. Thanks so much. I went to the Vitalbodies site and printed out the instructions. Found the True Type folder via the terminal and I now have Lucida Handwriting installed.
Thanks also to Rokurosv for initially pointing me in the right direction.
Regards to you both,

Desktop Backgrounds

Hi,
I expect most Mature Mints know this but in case any of our newbie friends don't, Gnome have a great site for downloading Wallpaper/Desktop Backgrounds.
Go to http://art.gnome.org. I now have a beautiful picture of Tuscany, Italy as my desktop background. Very calming!
