Re: kernel "usblp0: removed" ... endless loop

lpadmin -p <printer> -o usb-unidir-default=true This worked for me on a Canon MP140 which would stop printing after the first part of a one page print job. I used Canon-MP140-series as <printer> and it printed off fine. Do I need to do this each session when I want to print or how can this setting ...

Re: Mint 13 LXDE. When?

Guys, I think it is a BIG MISTAKE bypassing LXDE. It is NOT a question of disk space, or whatever. It is having a LEAN, MEAN machine, EVEN if I had an 8core machine with TONS of RAM, WHY SHOULD I use a desktop that is a resource hog or a non proved one like cinnamon? or a regression like mate? NO W...

Works for me too. Thanks grizzler for posting the link and thanks to others who contributed to the solution e.g. duinsoft.nl and at http://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/java.

Re: Mint 10 LXDE occasionally freezes (firefox + libreoffice

When it freezes and before you reboot try entering
dmesg |grep error

to see if it is throwing up some error that can be traced. Publish the result if you get one.

Re: capture keeps going down to 0

This seems to be the most relevant thread for this comment. I had been happily using Mint 9 LXDE since its release over a year ago including having no problems with the microphone or other audio issues when I recently discovered that the microphone had ceased to work (I was using Skype at the time)....

Re: linux mint 9 isadora not loading (On livecd)

This is a graphics hardware problem with the recent intro of Kernel Mode Setting. You may find this http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=53782#p308464 to be helpful. You need to hit F6 on the first loading screen, hit TAB with the first option selected and type in nomodeset or i915.modes...

Re: Mint9 LXDE - How to change grub boot menu items??

/boot/grub/menu.lst is an element of Grub 1 or legacy grub. You have now installed a recent version of an Ubuntu based distro (e.g. Mint 9 in any form) which uses Grub 2 and there are some significant differences. See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1195275 for some thorough descriptions. E...

Re: Linux Mint 9 LXDE - Some issues

@Kendall. I tried your suggestion : "Try getting rid of the gnome-power-manager and installing the xfce4-power-manager and the corresponding plugins package. Not all power management works with all hardware." to see if it would solve this issue but the result is the same. What is the best way to pas...

One issue I have not been able to track down is with a "Battery Low" xmessage window coming up as soon as I unplug the ac adapter. If I do cat /usr/lib/lxpanel/plugins/batt.so I get: expose_eventbatt: illegal token %s batt: unknown var %s xmessage Battery lowblack#28f200#22cc00#ffee00#d9ca00Battery...

I have a similar but different problem I have been unable to track down on Mint 9 LXDE with a "Battery Low" xmessage window coming up as soon as I unplug the ac adapter. I.e. battery is 99% charged (and not down on capacity). I have not been able to find where the battery level is set for this notif...
