Re: 32-bit or 64-bit KDE first?

Clem found 3 things he wanted addressed, Boo fixed these issues and the testing process started all over again. Boo and I have finished testing. Clem is testing and has the final word on if and when this is released. Be patient, good things come to those that wait. :) Hi exploder! My skin is turnin...

Re: 32-bit or 64-bit KDE first?

Boo, Any timing estimates if 64 bit wins out? I had to install Kubuntu 64 bit this past weekend ... would really prefer going Mint. -DataMan Same here. I also wanna try if it can resolve an issue I have with Kubuntu 64 regarding my ATI's HDMI port not being recognized. Also I want to note in relati...

Re: Mint Menu for KDE?

I think Mint Menu could be a good add-on to KMint. Back when I used Mint 7 GNOME I remember deactivating it in favor of GNOME's native menus, that's because while Mint Menu is cool and functional, I feel it a little canned to a more daily hardcore use. Mint Menu is way cool but it's aimed for novice...

Re: KDE 4.4 on the way

You can expect having it very soon available in Ubuntu/Kubuntu repositories if not today in backports or alike repositories in Kubuntu. On the other side, I think KMint will lag a little but that's the price you have to pay to have a quality release - usable and solid as rock on top priority. By the...

Re: 32-bit or 64-bit KDE first?

Thanks Joe, that's just how it is. :D I approved the 64 bit release this morning. Boo took care of the last remaining bug and the release is awaiting Clem's approval. Bear in mind that testing the release is a pretty lengthy process and Clem might find something the Boo and I missed. Thank you for ...

Re: Release Mint-kde with Kde 4.x

+1 Let someone else be the guineau pig for 6 months before handing it to us. Mint is about stability, if you want bleeding edge (and the associated stress headaches) Fedora is a good choice... Arch is a good bleeding-edge distro too albeit a little harder to install than Fedora. I prefer Mint: it's...

Re: 32-bit or 64-bit KDE first?

What you want to say? I'm sorry but don't catch it tony. If both are done simultaneously then the team loses no potential testers. There are some of us that refuse to use a 32bit OS on our hardware. Therefore, the testing of the 32bit distro means I cannot aid in the testing, and they lose a...

Re: 32-bit or 64-bit KDE first?

olligod, you got "my" quote wrong: First? Well, I voted 64bit as I will not use a 32bit distro. But, in reality, I feel that the changes applied to one should be done at the same time. I am willing to help with this to the extent of my ability, but this is a closed process. I feel that it...

Linux Mint 7 or 8 rc1

Which one will be more trouble-free to upgrade to final Mint 8 KDE when it finally arrives?
Just asking before download any of them and make it my primary OS.

Re: Which version of Mint to use

As someone told you above you should wait for the new upcoming KMint release. In the while I'm using Kubuntu -which is the base of KMint- and no matter how much bad things are being said, Kubuntu is a very cool KDE4 implementation. Also I want to note my personal experience with openSUSE in general ...

Final KDE

Hi, since I got a new machine, Intel's QuadCore 8400 2.66hz, 4GB, ATI 5750HD and most important a 24" monitor I can appreciate now KDE in it's full glory and I know there's no way back to once the useful GNOME environment. I'm a big fan of Debian so I tried Kubuntu Karmic, which is rather buggy...

Re: Don't Like KDE4

I have been a Gnome user for quite a few years but I am running LinuxMint 7 KDE as my main operating system now. For me KDE 4,2,4 has some bling and is getting very functional now but it does take some getting used to. :D The most difficult thing for me was getting used to configuring the panel! I ...
