Re: Customize Mint-Y Theme

Mint-Y-Light has been uploaded to cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com if anyone is interested. I tested it under Cinnamon and MATE, but not Xfce.

Customize Mint-Y Theme

Hi, I am trying to create a customized version of the Mint-Y Cinnamon theme. I want to have a version with a light panel. I have taken a copy of the default Mint-Y theme and was able to change the panel colour to match the menu, so they are both light. However, the panel text and system tray icons a...

Re: Solaris as a new adventure?

I found Freshplayer plugin. It allows you to use Chrome's Pepper flash plugin in Firefox. The catch is you have to have Chrome installed as well. It's OK for me because I had it installed anyway. There's PPA for it. I found it on www.webupd8.org. Works very well and you get the latest flash.

Get Theme Certified

Hi,

What is the procedure to get a theme certified for Cinnamon 1.6? I created a new White theme and would like to see it put in the 'certified for 1.6' category.

Thanks....Paul

Re: Linux Mint 14 RC

Today's update to mint-themes removes the Mint-Z theme. and it won't come back  https://github.com/linuxmint/mint-themes/commit/aaead0f89e285144c2739d4879bcebcadc9ec802 Unfortunate.....it was my favourite. Oh well, life goes on! I found a 'Mint-Z Improved' theme that works nice too. Think it...

Re: Mint 14: Change desktop icon text size

I install dconf-tools and in dconf-editor clicked on the field under 'org - nemo -desktop - font'. You can specify a font here, but if you leave it empty with the field title (font) in bold, it seems to pick up the default font set in Cinnamon preferences. Don't ask me how, it just seems to work for...

Re: Linux Mint 14 RC

I noticed when choosing the Mint-Z theme in Cinnamon that GTK3 apps are using the default GTK theme. I found out that /usr/share/themes/Mint-Z/gtk-3.0 is empty. By looking at the DEB package, I saw that the directory is supposed to be a symbolic link to /usr/share/themes/Mint-X/gtk-3.0. After I manu...

Re: Mint 13 overheating laptop?

You might want to try redoing the thermal paste between the CPU and the heat sink. My daughter's laptop was running over 70 degrees Celsius in Windows. There was hardly any paste when I opened it up. Cleaned the paste off and applied new stuff. Result was a drop of 30 degrees. Her laptop now runs in...

Re: Unable to get mintmenu on lmde xfce

It's been a while since I've played with Xfce, but I think you need to configure Xfapplet to use Mint menu. There should be button to configure your Xfapplet where you specify the actual applet you want to run. Sorry, I can't be more specific as I am going from memory.

I downloaded it from the SeaMonkey project. Near the bottom of the download, there is an unofficial 64 bit build for Linux.

Re: Linux Mint 13 Cinnimon, Mouse is Busy for way too long.

I am not sure why, but using LightDM as my display manager got rid of this for me. I used lightdm-gtk-greeter, not the unity-greeter. Can't stand that default purple. :D

Re: Desktop Font

For some reason, I thought that changing the default font affected the desktop font as well in LM12/Cinnamon. Oh well, not a problem. Thank goodness for dconf-editor!

I see that you are from my parents' homeland. Thanks for your help!

Desktop Font

In Cinnamon 1.4 and Mint 12, I was sure that the desktop font was changeable in the Cinnamon settings font dialog. In Maya, it doesn't seem to work. I had to install dconf-tools and edit the nautilus desktop font settings there. Was I dreaming that I was able to change it in Cinnamon/Lisa?

Thanks.

Re: Poll: Desktop environments

I just hope you will be keeping a KDE edition after the death of Kubuntu! (begin rant) My goodness, why do people still think Kubuntu was dying because it wasn't going to have a paid developer? There are many people working on Kubuntu and only one was paid. He didn't even work on the 11.10 release,...

Re: No new updates in a while ..LMDE latest version

The majority of LMDE updates come from the update packs. There is a new one every few months or so. The Mint tools get updated when there is a need. If you want updates more often, you can set your sources to Debian testing, but you are at a greater risk for breakage. If you are concerned about time...
