Re: Noobie with questions, requests, comments......

Correction. That poster clearly stated he/she had experience only with a single linux install. I have experience with oh...about 250 installs over a 14 year period. (This is my first Mint install - hence my status as Mint noobie.) I stand by my opinion. No distro is perfect or tailor-made for each ...

Re: Buy a new laptop without paying for Windows?

If you are in the UK try Novatech, all their computers are priced with or without Windows. I have used them several times and the staff do seem to know what they are on about.

Thank you Sally K for taking the time to reply, there was not a documents and settings file in the windows folder. So you were right it does not contain the data files I was looking for. I really do appreciate the time and trouble you have taken to answer, there has been an upside - my little girl ha...

Re: Linux irony, non-geeks more likely to go Windows-free

I installed Linux Mint because the OS on the second hand computer was absolutely shot to pieces and it would have cost me as much for a copy of windows as it did for my pc. My family in general use the computer to email and surf web, so half the rubbish on windows is never used anyway. So the transi...

I have told her indoors that I have booked a table at 2 o'clock. I don't see why she is so excited, she can't even play snooker!

My boy is nearly 7, this is only the second time in his life that there has been enough snow here in Southampton to have a snowball fight and build a snowman. Magic! On the downside no work and the pub is fifty yards away!

Best RAW photo converter for Elyssa

I wonder if anyone could guide me to a good RAW converter to run with Elyssa, I really did not want to download a program which was not in the software portal without finding out wether it was safe to use. Thank you in anticipation, Lee.

Re: Apps Problems

Husse you are going to think that I am a right idiot. I posted my last message and checked the menus again, everything was as I said. I then downloaded 'World of goo' for my boy. When I looked for it on the menu, everything is where it should be now, all the KDE games appear on the games menu and Pi...

Re: Apps Problems

Hello Husse, I have just reinstalled Helena and downloaded same programmes Picasa appears under 'all' in the menu but not under 'graphics'. This really is not a problem any more. Only 6 games appear to have downloaded when I got KDE games. This really is not a massive problem just a slight disappoin...
