Re: Andriod Media Interface? Like Double Twist?...
On second thought......I'm going to move my question to a different forum section. I just did a search for "itunes" and found this thread without noticing it was in the LMDE section. Sorry.

Re: Andriod Media Interface? Like Double Twist?...
I'm looking for the same thing. I divorced myself from "the man" known as AT&T / Apple and terminated my iphone. I have a Droid Incredible now. And iTunes was the last thing holding me to "the man" known as Microsoft, so now I'm looking for the best iTunes alternative for mus...

If we eliminate the 'newbie' forum, I won't be able to answer any questions! I figure that if the question isn't in the 'newbie' forum, then I'm completely unqualified to help

Re: GRUB implications when moving /home to a separate partition?
Thanks a ton, Husse! The partition / MBR / GRUB world is pretty much black magic to me, so all I've learned from prior experience is that it's REALLY bad if you mess these things up....

Re: Gnome 3 looks promising
The gnome-shell is now in Synaptic, with the release of Karmic (and Mint). I manually installed it when I was in Gloria and had mixed feelings about it. I really liked the idea of the hot corner, and they made it much easier to add multiple virtual desktop "walls" (or whatever you call the...

GRUB implications when moving /home......[SOLVED]
So, I installed Helena on my desktop, and it works great! My desktop machine is dual-booted with Windows Vista. I would like to move my /home directory to a separate partition, as described here , but first I wanted to make sure that this would not screw up GRUB or the MBR. Vista is loaded on my /de...

Re: Keep Gimp in Mint 9!
This decision, if it comes to fruition is just another example of Ubuntu turning itself into something more and more akin to Windows with every release, and especially the incremental "dumbing-down" of the release with every new release. It may soon come time for me to make my way back to...

Re: Booting Various .isos From USB Flash Drive
Have you looked at UNetbootin ? I haven't tried anything as complicated as what it sounds like you are doing, but I did use UNetbootin to create a bootable USB and I'm pretty sure it included the ability to have multiple bootable 'things' on a single drive. *EDIT* Here is a thread that addressed you...

Re: Keep Gimp in Mint 9!
I read that ubuntu 10.04 will drop Gimp from the default installation because of the following causes: Read this article about this decision. I hope that Linux Mint will not do this same mistake; I find this decision unbelievable... As a reasonably new Linux person, I am still just excited about th...

Re: Facebook is unbearably slow
The easiest thing to try would be to go back in Synaptic and mark Firefox-3.5 for installation. It should show up in your MintMenu, or you can type firefox-3.5 in a terminal.
You won't have to do anything with your current version.

Re: Facebook is unbearably slow
I wouldn't initially think that this is necessarily a Firefox issue, but I guess it could be. It depends what you are doing on Facebook that is so slow. It could be a Flash issue, or something along those lines.
What version of Firefox are you running now?

Re: Installing an important part of Ubuntu Netbook Remix
This looks awesome! I have an Aspire One and finally divorced myself from its original OS when Karmic NBR came out. But I am constantly looking around at other options for this computer. I looked into puppy linux, and ultimately think I would like to get away from GNOME because even though it is rea...

There are a bunch located right here. I've downloaded several, and have my Log In theme set to random, so I get a different one pretty much every time I log in.
Hope that helps!

Re: Wanting a new theme...
Well, the best place I know of to get GNOME themes is right here , and for Linux Mint themes right here . Now to install them (after you downloaded the one(s) you want), go to your Control Panel, then click on Appearance. If you downloaded a *.tar.gz file you can just click and drag it into the Them...

Re: 32 bit or 64bit
I would also recommend considering how you plan to use Mint in determining whether to go 32- or 64-bit. Others have already discussed more of the nitty-gritty detail as far as RAM limitations, but there are also user implications. For example, if you use the 64-bit variant, the .deb installation fil...

Re: Partitioning Help for a Vista/Mint dual boot
I have gone through a similar set-up. My desktop came with Vista pre-installed, and I set up Gloria as a dual-boot with the original OS (I just don't have a 2nd hard drive like you). Here are the steps I took to set this up. I was surprised at how easy it was, as this was my first experience setting...
