Re: USB WiFi Adapter Information

I appreciate the input. Can I get you to run the follow on Mint? $ apt-cache showpkg dkms I think you will find that build-essential is a dependency of dkms. I do a lot of testing of the installation instructions on clean installations. This has not been a problem on Mint or the Buntus. LMDE is a di...

USB WiFi Adapter Information

When handed lemons, make lemonade. COVID-19 has provided me with plenty of spare time so a few months ago I decided to work on some projects that I otherwise might not have had time for. The project in this case is to provide a lot of information and drivers for USB WiFi adapters for use on Linux. A...

Re: TP-Link AC1300 Archer T4U Issues

sleeper12, I know you are trying to help and that is a good thing but suggesting drivers when the chipset has not been identified is often going to lead to solutions that don't work and it will leave drivers installed that don't need to be there. Please allow me to help. The following from his lsusb...

USB WiFi Adapter Information

Being a high risk person has limited my mobility for many months now due to the virus. In preparation for a project I have later this year, hopefully, I needed to learn Github. While trying to figure out the best way to make that happen, I decided to try to be of service to my fellow Mint/Ubuntu use...

Re: Realtek AC1300 issues

It can be a good idea to remove/uninstall out-of-kernel drivers before doing a major release upgrade.

I think that Cudy adapter is powered by a rtl8812bu chipset. You can find good drivers and info here:

Re: [SOLVED] TP-Link AC600 Archer T2U Nano setup issue

downloaded the files from morrownr's link ... Yes but what files did you get? Your device ID posted earlier indicates that your adapter has a 8811cu chipset. Don't use the driver for 8811au. It won't work. It will install but it won't work. Take a look at this site: https://github.com/morrownr You ...

Re: Multiple Wifi adapters

It would seem to me that installing a driver for that USB WiFi adapter would be a good start:

Re: Weird Wifi Issues

Can anyone recommend a USB Wifi Adapter that works well with Linux Mint? What are your requirements? 5g and 2.4g? usb 3? Speed? AC600 , AC1200, AC1900 or N150? Supported in kernel? My advice is to go with an adapter with in kernel (plug and play) support. Here is an example: https://www.amazon.com/...

Re: Linux Mint 19.2 Dongle not recognized as wifi device

After doing the mode switch, the option to open the dongle as a drive goes away and it's ID becomes this >> "Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0bda: c820 Realtek Semiconductor Corp." under the results of lsusb This is a line directly from the Realtek driver: {USB_DEVICE_AND_INTERFACE_INFO(USB_VENDER...

Re: [Partially solved] TP-Link AC600 Archer T2U Nano setup issue

I have it install and working, but it's not giving me the option of 5GHZ. I have 5G enabled on my router and I'm connected to it with my Iphone and a second computer. Not sure what I'm missing. I noticed that you may not have full resolution to your problem yet... Your device appears to be based on...

Re: Linux Mint 19.2 Dongle not recognized as wifi device

Go here: https://github.com/morrownr/8821cu Follow the installation instructions. This is a very modern version of the driver you need. This driver installation uses dkms and I'm pretty sure it will blow your old driver out during installation. Let me know how it goes. Follow up edit: That device ID...
