Re: Update hangs at 99%
If you have the Google Chrome repo in your list it will always hang (99% of the time) since the Google repo is always so busy. Simply hit ESC (you'll see it failed to get the Google repo) and you can update your system. I do find that whenever a new DEV update is ready from Google their repo is up a...

Re: google chrome crashing
Here is an instantly updated list of fixes for Chrome from the people behind Chrome. I run it in Mint 8 x64 in the dev channel and the latest update has been rock solid with the pre-beta x64 flash.

Re: Drivers for the GeForce 210 video card
I'm using a BFG GeForce 220 and an MSI GeForce 210 in two AMD machines running Helena x64 with no problems whatsoever. Simply install the Nvidia drivers (I'm using 195.30) and you'll be up and running. I was using the built-in motherboard Nvidia 6100SE prior to these cards, also without issue. Nvidi...

The latest Skype from their website works for me as well (Linuxmint 8 x64). Pres I agree here as well... Skype x64 on Mint 8 x64 has been working flawlessly for me. No issues to report whatsoever. Download it from their site as mentioned in previous posts > http://www.skype.com/download/skype/linux...

Re: How to get Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter working in Mint?
Okay... Round 2... If you can get to a library or somewhere where you can access the net, you can download the driver to a USB drive and install it yourself into your pc. Choose the correct card from the Broadcom site > http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php When you choose...

Re: How to get Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter working in Mint?
Plug your HP into a wired network connection and download the restricted drivers. You'll see the option listed in your Control Center.
Mint will download your Broadcom drivers and you'll be up and running wireless.

Re: synaptic problem ?
eddie, the Mark all changes button has been disabled in Mint 8 and the preferred method is to use MintUpdate. You can more or less replicate the functionality in synaptic by enabling show levels 4 and 5 in MintUpdate. I also have everything listed in installed-manual so I wouldn't worry about that....

Re: Adobe Flash 10.1 Pre-Beta
Yeah, you must have missed something. Simply rename the old file such as ZZZZlibflashplayer.so and copy in the new libflashplayer.so file (be sure you're in as root) and you're done. I'm using Mint 8 but that shouldn't make a difference if you're using 7 or another linux variation. So far after doin...

I just downloaded it and extracted the libflashplayer.so file. I renamed the current file in the usr/lib/ directory (go in as root) and rename the old file. Copy the new file into the directory and open your favorite browser. Adobe will see the version as: 10.1.51.45 Speed seems much smoother than t...

Backing Up Mint 7 Before Updating
Clem says to make a backup before updating — so should I use Mint Backup? Will that backup my HOME directory and hidden files? Or should I use Clonezilla to backup the partition (I use the entire drive)? Or should I simply right-click the HOME icon on the desktop and click Create Archive? I’d hate t...

Since I've installed Mint on my mother's machine, she has a hard time remembering if it's Linux or Mint -- so -- she calls it LINT... Perfect!!
Solved.
The name for Linux Mint 9 is LINT.
