Re: Newbie Partitions. Live in Linux but still need Windows .
You guys sound like naturals. Personally switched to linux after getting windows hacked & badly violated by criminals, could also have been an other os, but less likely with linux. I developed a security paranoia & practice a "Know your enemy" mentality...although i remain a small ...

Re: Newbie Partitions. Live in Linux but still need Windows .
I apologize to all the spider/arachnid lovers, windows users, hackers and BillGates. Always suspect about Windows having secret wonderous twilight zone mind bending backdoor traps. Probably my personal imagination, sorry, let's get back to this coversation when ready.

Windows = creepy arachnid ?JoeFootball wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 3:43 pmYes, I suppose running Linux within Windows is technically an option. Re: Newbie Partitions. Live in Linux but still need Windows .
Can you please be more specific why ? I already know my way around the file system & some basic user commands for dimming, downloading, timing shutdown for going to sleep listening to audio books(very cool), checking my system a little... Your own words... Zero experience. Ok thanks, was referr...

Re: Newbie Partitions. Live in Linux but still need Windows .
Not to drive anyone from Mint, but you sound like a good candidate for Puppy Linux...for at least a month. You can use a USB drive and you have the opportunity to save changes. Can you please be more specific why ? I already know my way around the file system & some basic user commands for dimm...

Re: Newbie Partitions. Live in Linux but still need Windows .
1-Remember i want to have a easy wipe-able partition for experimental linux distros besides my everyday linuxMint so maybe i should have independent partitions ? Would be nice to have a sandbox as no question easy-no-frills-scrap-able section. Am not into virtual machines yet. 2-About having 2 separ...

Newbie Partitions. Live in Linux but still need Windows .
Zero experience. Plan to partition drive for at least 2 Linux's (1 regular, 1 experimental i can wipe at will). Must still use Windows for specialized software (no other option). Must install windows first ? Partition types differents, ext4=linux,ntfs, windows= ntfs-fat32 ? Need a clear simple plan ...

What is "Dual Boot"
Does dual boot mean running 2 live systems simultaneously -or- also having 2 os's installed on a disk even if only 1 is on & the other off ? I will sometimes still need windows & need only 1 os at a time, still call that dual boot or something else ? I don't mind re-starting my computer to s...
