Re: tons of bugs?
It switches to a new one after about 5 to 10 seconds. It's weird. I booted up my Debian partition and there's no problem playing the video. Unfortunately I'm not an LMDE dev so I can't help directly, but perhaps it'll be acceptable to point out the reason why, if I were a dev on that distro, I'd be...

It might be worth talking to Emi at the Dwarf Fortress wiki here. They use mediawiki and it manages information on the same topic for different versions of the game -- click about the various game topic pages and note the hyperlinks to the alternative versions running across the top of each one.

Re: Make Release - Installing tar.bz2 Program
80 odd Megabyte of download is dissuading from me personally downloading and trying the package but if the problem is as you say it is then it is an error with the makefiles that came with the archive. It looks as though instead of building the application it is instead sending output of itself to y...

Re: So....Anyone Occupying anything?
I read a report last night that basically put my country, the UK, as the single most indebted industrialised country in the world -- this based not just on government debt (where we're still -- by the skin of our teeth -- within sane boundaries), but in terms of residential debt (so credit cards, pe...

Re: Help with acer W500
Those gpu drivers are not developed by the kernel folks but by Xorg. I'd be thinking your problem is more likely to revolve around a new version of Xorg. To be honest it's probably going to be a pain to retrograde Xorg. I'd therefore suggest that, if LM10 works, stick with it -- that or whatever the...

Re: resize partition of linuxmint hard drive
Sure thing, gparted will allow you to (more or less) safely resize that partition. It's fairly straightforward to install and use, say though if you get stuck on any specific issues. I'd still make a backup of any personal data first but it's rare that things go wrong.

To paraphrase a meme, "I've seen enough Gnome 3 threads to know where this is going". Please may we keep commentary on Gnome 3 design to a discussion thread, and keep this to resolving technical issues with using the DE? Many thanks.

Re: Problem with apt-get on my home network
There are too many variables here to be completely confident about either of the following possibilities: either 1. the repository was down when you were trying to update from home or 2. your dns isn't working on your home network, hence the couldn't resolve errors. Is this the only time this has oc...

Put it in a terminal and you'll see what I mean
(ctrl+c to make it stop. Combine it with aspell using a pipe like this
Code: Select all

Re: SSID doesn't appear
I can't think of a good reason why changing DNS would interfere with associating so would suggest checking that no other settings were changed in network manager (although tbh I can't think of what I'd be looking for -- APs shouldn't just disappear from view).

Re: my chronicle of LMDE on the family computer.
Thanks for sharing your story. Sorry you didn't get any direct assistance -- it sounds like you know your way about a computer though and sometimes it's a case of 'your guess is as good as mine'. I look forward to hearing how the family gets along (or not!) with the distro.

Re: plz hep me in instaling modem made leoxsys LN72I
From personal experience, suggest unmounting it via the file manager. Experience suggests that this will cause the device to be recognized as a gsm device. Surprised however that sakis3g not responding well. Could use its output if the unmounting thing doesn't work out.

Outside of ensuring that your version of zlib is the one (or above the one) required for OpenCV, suggest taking this to OpenCV's support / bug tracker.
