Re: Nemo freezes when viewing thumbnails Mint 15

Just to add Dolphin file manager did the trick ! Browsing and thumb nailing remote shares works with crashing or locking up.

Re: Nemo freezes when viewing thumbnails Mint 15

I can only add that I have the exactly same problem on two different systems running Linux Mint 15. The issue only occurs when browsing any network shares on my Dlink DNS 320, NAS4Free Box or my Tomato Router with USB storage After a force close Nemo will not restart unless I log out and in again. W...

Re: Goodbye Vista & Windows 7. Hello Linux Mint!

The description CRAP for open office seems to lack the technical details that might enlighten me as why it is "frustrating to use". :D . Interested to read some specifics.

Re: How to make symbolic links (shortcuts) to Network Folders ?

I could not get the gvfs command to work but realized that I could achieve the same result by browsing to the network share. Once the share is opened (mounted I guess) by Nautilis a link appears on the desktop and stays there untill I log out. Now if I could only make these links permanent then prob...

Re: Goodbye Vista & Windows 7. Hello Linux Mint!

I agree that Linux MINT can easily take on Windows and is ready for wide home user adoption. The main obstacle to wide adoption in the part of the world I live in is that Windows here is almost "open source" by that I mean pirate version of windows can be bought openly in supermarkets ect ...

Re: How to make symbolic links (shortcuts) to Network Folders ?

I have enabled NFS on the FreeNAS server but the only shares I can see are the SMB ones. I take it that with NFS you can make links to network shares ?

Perhaps I should look closer at the NFS options to see what Iam doing wroung

How to make symbolic links (shortcuts) to Network Folders ?

I am running the default setup Linux MInt Gloria with Gnome desktop. I have a server running FreeNAS and constantly need to access the shares (SMB) on it. Making LINKS to a network share does not work (error is: The target doesn't support symbolic links) but making bookmarks in Nautitis does, The qu...

Re: Goodbye Vista & Windows 7. Hello Linux Mint!

I have been trying different version of Linux for many years and for a while used Mandriva but hardware issues eventually put an end to it. So when I recently tried Linux Mint I had a shock. I installed it on my Laptop and it recognized all the hardware right down to the extra multimedia keys with N...
