Re: programs pausing with dark greyscale every 3mins or so

well i started up this morning after having it sit turned off for 8 hours or so, xorg sat at 2% CPU, with 4.1% memory then I started up firefox, xorg jumped up to 4.5% memory 5% CPU, firefox took up 1 CPU load for a few seconds. Then started up eclipse. xorg now has 35% CPU, 5.9% memory... had a cou...

Re: programs pausing with dark greyscale every 3mins or so

I think this must have something to do with xorg, because it's taking up over 50% ram, and also during 1 tick of TOP can show it using around 60% CPU, but then the next tick will report it's only using 5%, this happens every 30seconds to a few mins. Either xorg is being misrepresented or something s...

Re: programs pausing with dark greyscale every 3mins or so

well something is wrong, because with just the system monitor running, it's still jumping up to 100% but nothing is showing in actual running processes, so I think i need a better monitor than the standard one.

Re: programs pausing with dark greyscale every 3mins or so

yea this seems to be the problem, CPU2 was at 100% AND CPU1 at about 30%, so seems to be multithreading problems. after the greyscale activity, this dropped back down each CPU now sitting between 10-30% depending also memory is a bit high, 79% of 2GB. I have no idea about HDD, not sure how to monito...

Re: Only Mint will boot, and I think it erased the wrong drive

When you open Gparted, can you see the different drives from the drop down list ( upper right corner ) ? Do as richy suggested, start up mint and start gparted, if it's not installed then install it. Because this line: ID:/home/ducky size: 220G used: 2.7G (2%) fs: ecryptfs dev: /dev//home/ducky/.Pr...

Re: Keep Gimp in Mint 9!

Those specific programs have been written on MS systems for MS users. fact is they are probably riddled with windows system() commands which is the reason they never brought out releases for Linux/BSD... sure it would be nice to have a wrapper that just works, but they are hard to write you can make...

Re: Keep Gimp in Mint 9!

[2c] Personally I love gimp and use it on Windows as well, as opposed to a free(free as in stolen) PS. But I think a LiveCD should be just that, something that is solely used for one/two purposes. One: installing Mint/Ubuntu. (obvious) and Secondly this is the important one: As a recovery/tool disk....

setting path & can't find manpath

I'm trying to set path, I thought the command:

export PATH=$PATH:/usr/bin/sunstudio12.1/bin

would save the path with the appended, but it seems to reset after closing console, I also need to add sunstudio12.1/man to MANPATH which doesn't seem to exist under Mint 7.

can anyone help please?

Re: everything is broken?

Hi I am a PC, and Mint 7 was my idea.
